That would defeat the entire purpose of the movie and make no sense after Halloween 5.

That would defeat the entire purpose of the movie and make no sense after Halloween 5. And of course even less sense after Halloween 6. If we're talking about ignoring those two and continuing the thread of Jamie following in her uncle's footsteps at the end of 4, that'd be... something. Though the movie wouldn't have the same resonance of Laurie facing her old tormenter. It being the daughter she abandoned would change the entire movie basically. The last 15 minutes would be kinda sad rather than triumphant.

If 5 and 6 didn't exist than H20 would probably just be Halloween 5 and in that case it would have made sense to bring Jamie Lloyd back and the movie could still use the "Laurie faked her death and moved so Michael Myers couldn't find her" aspect. Then it could have been a revenge for leaving her daughter behind sort of thing, though I have no idea why Laurie wouldn't have taken her daughter with her when she went into hiding.

Maybe Laurie figured Michael just wanted her so Jamie was safer on her own. But that logic only works for one movie. 5 and 6 taken into account, Laurie is the worst mom of all time.

I'd still say she would be a bad mom for leaving her daughter in Haddonfield. I mean...
