I drive for Uber. Somebody left a phone charger in my car before the pandemic. 6 months later, nobody filed claim for it. I had many rides that night. Don't know who left it.
I went to Best Buy and bought the cable to attach the charger to my phone. The store tech said my phone charger cord would charge up the charger.
I charged it up to all four lights. I've used it to charge my phone. So far, it's still at four lights.
What a great thing.
But I did some research. And many warn if I have the wrong charger, it could damage my phone.
Oh well, so far, no problem.
What do you think?

It has never worried me before. After I posted the OP, I researched the phone charger. Supposedly the charger I have has a good rating on Amazon.com --- four and a half stars, out of five. The Internet said it can be used with both Android and Apple phones and laptops. And no damage warnings. What do you know, I learn something everyday. 😁😁😁 👍👍👍

My samsung tablet charges in a few hours on the supplied samsung charger, but takes over a day on my phone charger, suggesting to me the samsung puts out a higher voltage. It is conceivable a charger puts out over 5 V and might damage some units but it is more likely manufacturers sour grapes consumers forced them all to use the same micro USB plug.

All phone chargers don't charge tablets (smartpads). They make bigger, stronger chargers for laptops.

I often get a message when I plug a phone into a generic 5v charger to switch chargers. I ignore it and haven't had any problems so far.
