...and other sea life, for that matter. The Deep is proving to be one of my favorite characters on the show because he's such a clueless screw-up. Antony Starr should be getting some Emmy love for his portrayal of Homelander.

Tbe dolphin scene in 1 really hurt. Though I laughed out loud at the whale scene.

I didn't have time to watch S1 last year. I decided to wait until the release of S2 so I could binge-watch the whole thing. You'd think that would give me an advantage when comparing both seasons, since both would be fresh in my memory, right? Well, I'm surprisingly having a hard time remembering a lot of what happened in S1. I found S2 to be more entertaining. In the comics, Becca died because the fetus had enough power to come out of her in the middle of the pregnancy. Butcher immediately killed the baby. In the show, she and her son are still alive. Is that a good or bad change? Well, if this had been a film adaptation instead, it would've been a missed opportunity. However, the trauma of that situation maybe wouldn't have been enough material to sustain a TV series. Instead, they focused on how Homelander slowly tried to "turn" Ryan. That worked well... until the finale. Ryan shoots a laser beam in order to protect Becca from Stormfront, but accidentally hurts both of them, making him feel guilty... or at least that's the idea. It's not really clear. We don't see the laser striking Becca. Stormfront was trying to choke Becca, so maybe her hand is what caused the wound? Anyway, Becca, the dead character who turned out to be alive, is killed off again. That's not good storytelling.
When I first saw Hughie, I was shocked. Why turn a Scottish conspiracy theory fan into an everyday American? The character was modeled after Simon Pegg and they couldn't cast him in the show because he was too told. OK, but why not cast a younger actor who looked like him? However, it turned out to be a good change. In the comics, the character looked and acted a little too similar to Frenchie. Now, he's more unique. Yes, he's an Average Joe. I meant among the title characters.
