He announced his plans to boycott them due to a lack of Latino nominees.

Did he not read about the record-breaking amount of black nominees?

Did he not read about the record-breaking amount of black nominees? [Well he’s not interested in that. He’s talking about Latino actors. “...I'm boycotting. If you don't have Latin people there's no reason for me to see it. What's the point? I'm just dying to see positive Latin stories out there. I mean we've got millions of incredible historic figures, contributions, struggles in America for 500 years. We've got a plethora of stories. I wanna see just a couple! It's crazy, we're 50% of the population of Los Angeles, and less than 3% of the faces in front of the camera. Less than 2% of the faces behind the camera, less than 1% of the stories being told by Hollywood streamers and networks. That's cultural apartheid. It's unbelievable that our stories aren't being told and there's only one reason for that and that's executives don't see us, don't get us, don't care about us. They're just not casting us, not telling out stories. It's not fair because we're 25% of the box office. I want 25% of those stories to be about Latinx people. It's just not ok to ignore us and exclude us. We're the biggest minority in the country.”

Well he’s not interested in that. He’s talking about Latino actors. I hope my post didn't come off as dismissive. I support diversity. Hell, I'm Latino too. Well, a white Latino, so I haven't faced discrimination, but a lot of white people regardless of their nationality have the right to say "I understand your pain, but it's a delicate topic and I don't think you should address it this way." I'm just dying to see positive Latin stories out there. It's just not ok to ignore us and exclude us. We're the biggest minority in the country.” I don't think that's a valid argument for his boycotting, because: A) ATAS isn't directly responsible for the lack of job opportunities; and B) There were a couple of trans nominees this year, even though that gender has even less job opportunities in the industry. In fact, I mentioned black actors before because it proves this ceremony isn't discriminating anyone. As I've said in other threads in the past, it's not OK to talk about a person/show/movie getting snubbed by an award ceremony without saying who/what should not have been nominated instead. It's even worse to talk about a group of people getting snubbed without making that clarification. It implies that every single Latino working on an American TV production deserves an award. That's mathematically impossible. If John says something like "I would've nominated M.J Rodríguez over Laura Linney" or "I prefer the cast of ONE DAY AT A TIME over the cast of SCHITT'S CREEK," then we can have a proper conversation.

I love how he is basically saying "different strokes for different folks" but Hollywood's desire for full spectrum dominance interferes with it.
It does not want diverse voices, only those they control.

So why doesn't he get out there and be a force for getting some of them made?

Even amoung racial minorities, there is intolerance all around the board. IMO all including Whites need to get a life! But people will be people.

They should just stop making award shows all together.
