Not bad. More in line with something like The Trouble With Harry than Hitchcock's more typical taut thrillers and psychodramas, so I can see why some viewers might have been underwhelmed. One of my favorite scores from a Hitchcock film, but I never realized before that it was by John Williams. There are subtle hints of Hermann's Psycho theme there, I think. 7.5/10

6/10. Lightweight but enjoyable and I like how - most appropriately - Hitchcock’s final film ends with a wink. The car chase is a highlight. Hardly vintage Hitch but pleasant.

I enjoyed "Family Plot" - *** I think it's a pleasant little suspense flick, with an emphasis on comedy. A really good cast, it's non-taxing in the best way possible.

I agree that the car chase is a highlight. I don't ordinarily care for Bruce Dern, but he and Barbara Harris work well together. And I love Barbara Harris in anything. Yes, the wink she gives at the end was cute and an apt footnote.

Too lightweight for my tastes and the plot just didn't keep my interest. Not terrible, but Frenzy would have made a much better final film for Hitchcock.
5/10
