I think I'll go with Salem's Lot (1979), but an HM goes to Fright Night (1985). Adored the Stephen King novel but couldn't get into the movie. I did like the look of the vampire, however. Fright Night is excellent fun.

Of the noted ones, FRIGHT NIGHT.
There's one I saw long ago that was different, didn't follow the usual Hollywood Nazi propaganda formula for vampire movies that all the famous ones do. Instead, it was about a couple that resembled the usual hero and heroine, visiting a family in the "old country" and one by one they all turned into vampires, including the hero and heroine, and then they and the family they stayed with all learned to deal with being vampires. I don't know the name of the movie, but it's definitely the best of the vampire movies. It had a European look to it, so I think it was fifties or sixties European made.

Vampyr Only Lovers Left Alive
I recall enjoying Nosferatu and the original Dracula also, but it's been a while since I've seen them.

Sounds like it could be THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR FACE

My top 5 are Fright Night (1985), John Carpenter's Vampires, Let the Right One In, The Lost Boys and Byzantium. What a gem that one is. I discovered two Octobers ago. A great, highly underrated vamp movie and Saiorse Ronan is perfect. And they are "unconventional vampires" as our old friend JohnLindsey289 would say. Vampires: Los Muertos is a big step down from Vampires; no where in the same league..but still manages to be a lot of fun and I believe Bon Jovi as a vampire hunter. He's ok and its just as well James Woods isn't in this cause he is too good for this script but like I say I still like it. I also like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Let Me In and The Last Man on Earth although I just never think of the latter as a vampire movie and I don't even know why. They clearly have fangs. Maybe because I saw The Omega Man first and they were albino mutants. I don't care much for Near Dark or 30 Days of Night. I really want to rewatch Stake Land, I have only seen it twice a long long time ago but liked it. I still need to get into the Hammer Draculas and check them out. Oh yes, Fangs of the Living Dead is so cheezy but entertaining and loaded with atmosphere and great set dresing and location. It looks like that tavern would be a fun place to have a pint, snarf down a couple whole roasted chickens and a beef roast and ogle the busty barmaid.

Vampyr Nosferatu The Shadow of the Vampire Near Dark Fright Night part 2 (haven't seen this in ages though)
Eurohorror vampires are often great and worth recommending:
Requiem for a Vampire & Jean Rollin vampire films in general Malenka (uncut version of "Fangs of the Living Dead") In the Grip of the Spider The Virgin of Nuremberg The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism The Night of the Devils The Crypt of the Living Dead Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (doesn't have Frankenstein, but has vampires and werewolves) etc
