I've survived my 7th (I think) hurricane with no damage. Sally caught people here off guard because it was headed towards New Orleans but kept creeping eastward making landfall on the Alabama/Florida state line. It was the same place Ivan landed 16 years ago. This put my area on the "dirty" side of the storm and it moved directly towards us. It was a Cat 2 which soon became a Cat 1, but the eye only moved at about 2 mph. So it just kept churning up the same ground, felling trees, destroying rooftops and delivering 40 consecutive hours of wind and rain. No electricity for 6 days and no internet for 9. The horror. I lost all my perishable food again. Overall it was the 2nd worst hurricane I've seen. But I shouldn't complain. I fared better than some and I've endured worse.
So did I miss anything important?

So did I miss anything important? Good to hear that you made it thru the storm safely ....
Important here ? LOL ! Not even any spectacular meltdowns ... just the usual daily drip drip drip of incessant stupidity from the Con-Clique and bickering ad-nauseum. In other words . SSDD ! anyway ... welcome back !

But I'm sure being without electricity for 6 days and internet for 9 days was no picnic. P.S. When I saw the subject of this thread, I immediately thought of this song:

Thanks, it was just a little joke. I know there's nothing here of great importance. But when I'm deprived of being here, my mind tends to wonder what's happening. That's the real joke.

I would be very bummed out to endure something like that. Whenever we've lost power it was in the dead of winter and all I could do was get in bed and try to stay warm

You didn't miss much. There are a few new threads on the History board. I've been thinking of starting one about Lucius Cornelius Sulla, and why he seems to get such a bad rap.

After a hurricane it's usually scorching hot without air conditioning. Mercifully the temps were cooler this year.

Did you see any effects from Sally? It seemed as if it was headed in your general direction. After I lost power, I could no longer follow its progress.

One tree limb broke off but did no damage. Glad you've got power again. We've really come to depend on it.

This whole disaster has been a mild preview of what it'll be like if we ever suffer an EMP attack.
