The leader of this band, Tim McGovern, was a part of The Motels with Martha Davis for a while.
I saw Burning Sensations a couple of times in the early '80s. Here's their one tiny hit.
Burning Sensations - Belly of the Whale (1983)

This was the #1 country song of 2008. His next best song sadly only got as far as #26 two years later.
God bless you and James always!!!

50 years ago I would never have believed this song would still be popular today at NFL football games.

Was that a hit? I never heard it on the radio. But I'm not sure how to define a hit.

Was that a hit? I never heard it on the radio. But I'm not sure how to define a hit. Certainly the main one played in the UK but just looked it up on Discogs and never released as a single it appears, so "my bad" as the youth say.

I'm interested to learn it was played at all somewhere. I always liked the song. It would appear UK disc jockeys had more freedom and were more enlightened at that time than their American counterparts.

Was the theme tune to a well known Sunday lunchtime current affairs show so was well known to the UK public. UK radio had a lot of shows that were album track orientated as well.
