Last week 290,000 people in my area lost power from Hurricane Sally. Mine was off for six days. Of course, Cali has a worse problem with the current fires, the heat and the dry ground.

and no power if you have electric cars And CA just passed a law to quit selling gasoline powered cars?... in what (2045?) And as a side, note... It's going to take weeks to rebuild Louisiana's power grid due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Laura I too may not know much about electric cars, but I think all this raises a major dilemma... How you charge your electric cars if the power grid is not working for weeks or even longer? Is getting rid of gasoline powered cars such a good idea, if you won't be able to use electric cars to evacuate a major disaster area that involves 100s of square miles? If we want to go gas-less, I think we better start investing in solar powered recharging stations...

I hope you'll be in a safe place there. I wish you all the best.

By then cars will easily have more range than gas vehicles and it's plenty of time to add capacity to the grid. Throw in all the people that have or will have rooftop solar and battery storage by then and we'll be fine.

Thank you for the update. However, we are keenly aware of our annual weather patterns. The heat wave that you warn of, began 2 days ago. Please keep us in your thoughts ... just as we will do, for you, when Mother Nature's challenge presents its next challenge to you, and your community.

COVID, fires, hurricanes. No Texas-sized asteroid though...yet.

Was that comment directed at me because I posted about the fires in California? I live on the east coast, and some of us here have our own battles to deal with and aren't always following along with what's happening in the west coast. It was simply a comment to induce a conversation, so there was no need to get all snippy about me reminding you of your own weather patterns as if to assume everyone on the board lives in California.
