Didn't Ian Flemming say Sean Connery was pretty much how he pictured James Bond? He was against Sean Connery playing the character but changed his mind after seeing the film. He eventually gave a Scottish background to the literary character in part due to Connery's portrayal.

Henry looks more like 007. Tom Hardy just doesn't put any effort in these days. I've read some people say Tom would look more like the average Joe kind of Bond but it helps to have something special about you if you're going to play Bond. Tom just looks like a greasy car mechanic nothing special.

I’d say Hardy (even though he’s short) but the way things are going he’ll be over 60 when the next Bond gets made.

Of the six actors who've played Bond in the official franchise, the one who most physically resembled the character as described by Fleming is Timothy Dalton.
