What do you think of this movie? I think it ranks among the best horror comedies ever made. Still holds up amazingly well after forty years. This.

A fun and entertaining horror movie with a sharp sense of humor. Makeup effects and transformations are incredible and still holds up well.

It was a big deal when it was released, and has become a cult classic. I enjoy it, but it as its flaws. And it kind of bogs down mid-way through. I like Wolf (1994) better. James Spader plays his regular creep. It was fun.

AWIL is easily the greatest werewolf movie of all time. Unfortunately, the gender swapped sequel is a shit show like all gender swap sequels. Was Paris connected at all to the original, other than the title? I don't believe it was. The chick werewolf was David Kessler's daughter.

This is one of the those horror comedies that are much more comedy than horror, and I really prefer it the other way around. However, what really ruined this for is that the leading characters are so damn annoying. The subway werewolf attack is a great scene and I, too, liked the Bunuel-inspired dream sequence. Still, I wouldn't rate this higher than 4/10.
The sequel in nearly unwatchable. I don't remember anything positive about it.

I LOVE it.
As others have pointed out, it's an excellent mixture of horror and comedy. Though, I would also add that I didn't mind the romantic subplot. The acting was great, the special effects still hold up, and I love the tension building up in some scenes which is something that's missing in a lot of films nowadays.

1/10. The worst movie I have ever seen. This has been discussed previously, but I feel Rai, that perhaps you are being a little too unforgiving because you don't like the visual representation of the werewolf. It was so close to The Howling from the previous year, that they didn't want the wolf to look repetitive, so they gave it a more original slant. That is artform. Apart from your dislike of the werewolf's representation, there is nothing behind the intention and creative process of the production that warrants a "worst" film ever announcement. That is being way too rigid and wrongheaded, unless there are other aspects you can't accept or relate too, especially for horror film fans. That is only one of the reasons why I hate that movie.
The main reason why I hate it is because it is a comedy, not a horror movie.

I'm a Howling man myself, but for sure AAWIL is right at the top end of the table for Werewolf films, pitch perfect in the blend of comedy and horror.

Do you like the Evil Dead films? They crack me up! And they are a bit gory, but funny AND scary!

As much as I sympathize with forgetting Tom Everett Scott exists, it's literally called An AMERICAN Werewolf in Paris. He's the David of the movie, not Julie Delpy.

I have seen The Evil Dead (1981) some 20 years ago and I don't remember anything about it. I like Bruce Campbell, though, so perhaps I'll watch that movie again someday.

The scene with the werewolf attacking the reporter in the house was damn creepy--good music too, and then when he grabs the file out of her hand. I think the werewolf looked too dog-like but there were some suspenseful stuff--like the barn finale. Despite the humor.
'Screw all this "channel your energies" crap.'
