I’ve never been wrong about sports and can’t imagine what it feels like. I’m sure some of you can, however.
What’s an event/player’s career/game/season that you turned out to have been COMPLETELY wrong about?

I don`t really make sport predictions, the only won i can remember making was that Czech Republic would win the European championship in 2004 and the got knocked out in the Semi-finals by Greece.
So i guess that is my worst prediction i have made.

Before the Brazil vs Germany semi-final in the 2014 World Cup, someone on the old boards wrote that Germany was going to humiliate Brazil. I replied “Don’t be ridiculous. Germany struggled to beat Algeria, they are not going to humiliate Brazil”. Little did I know what was in store…
I also vaguely remember boldly betting on Portugal to win a World Cup (or possibly an European Championship), only to see them fail to advance from the group stage.

Speaking of Brazil-Germany this is not a prediction i made, but i remember before the game they where talkin to some Brazilian fans and German fans and the Brazilian fans went on and on about how Brazil where goin to trash Germans 3-0 and pretend to wipe tears away from the Germans face. I kind of wish they had talked to these Brazilian fans after the game.

My first bet was on the Colts against the Jets in Super Bowl III. The guy didn't want any points.
I thought JaMarcus Russell would be Cam.

I was wrong about Miami Heat coach Eric Spoelstra.
A dopey kid who started in the Heat's video room gets handed three Hall Of Famers (one of which is often legitimately called the greatest basketball player ever) plus has Pat Riley making all the decisions...and the guy Spoelstra "coaches" the Heat to some Championships. I laughed at that dope when he raised the Trophy. But I soon learned after LeBum left the Heat that I was wrong about Spoelstra. Dude is a phenomenal coach.

I was wrong about Daniel Jones. I never had him being a Hall Of Famer, but I had it that he would be a top 10 QB in the league. I now realize that he shouldn't even be in the league.

In all seriousness, though, there was a time I was wrong: 2017 Eagles. When Wentz went down, I was adamant that they were done and had no chance of winning another game. The more I argued with the Eagles fans here, the more worked into a frenzy I got, hardening my belief and resolve even more. I was sure they wouldn’t win a single playoff game, then they did. I was sure they wouldn’t beat the Vikings, then they destroyed them. Then I was 100% sure they had no chance of beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Not with Foles. Not with Pederson. I was so sure that I ended up rooting for the Patriots in that game rather than face being wrong. We all know what happened.
That’s definitely one time I totally face planted on a prediction.

Technically I predict the Eagles will win the Super Bowl every year and I was only right once. I didn’t truly believe until the Vikings game. The Eagles barely got by the Falcons, needing an incomplete pass to Julio Jones of all people to win. In the Vikings game when he hit that bomb to Torrey Smith, I knew. He had the mojo, the power of Christ compelled him. But do you know when I REALLY knew? During the off week before the Super Bowl they announced that Brian Dawkins was elected to the hall of fame. What surer sign did anyone need? It’s all been shit since then, of course, but it was worth it.

I keep thinking, every single year, that following the Mets on a daily basis won't be akin to enduring a months-long, frenzied icepick upon my testicles, but lo and behold, every year, they manage to destroy any semblance of love I have for my favorite sport. Often in a new and creative manner. In a way, you almost have to admire it.
And you know what, once spring training starts, I'll be on here waxing poetic about the boys of spring, about the blooming flowers being a metaphor for a new beginning, and how the Mets, if healthy, will surprise some people in 2021. It's an abusive relationship like you read about.....but maybe the Steve Cohen era will be different!

Been thinking on this and the best I can come up with is that I thought the Bills would mop the floor with the Giants in SB XXV. But I had reasons...
1. The 1991 AFC Championship. 51-3 Bills. They embarrassed the Raiders. The Bills dominated the Raiders as if they were a Pee Wee team. 2. Jeff Hostetler. He wasn't Phil Simms 3. The Giants weren't the 49ers. Everyone, from the Bills to the fans, were afraid of the Niners. When the Giants and Hostetler beat the Niners, it looked like they were playing the B Team.
Conversely, my father might have had the best sports prediction. After the AFC title game, he said that if the Bills didn't win the Super Bowl that year, they wouldn't win in his lifetime and possibly mine. He was right on his account (he passed in 2003) and still batting .1000 on all of it.

Well, since I seem to stoop to a new low every week in the IMDb EPL prediction game I'm sure my worst is still to come.

I could never understand the fans' histrionics. Crying? There's no crying! There's no crying in futbol! A conservative site that prides itself on intellectualism and analysis always uses this picture, without identifying the context, to criticize the left.
