Interesting. I'm down for a Conan live action tv series. Yeah I think it'd be more ideal. If they just tried rebooting the movies, it could flop again like the 2011 movie.

As long as it is a darn sight better than that Momoa monstrosity and that it includes a Tree Of Woe.

Weren't they planning to make a sequel to the Conan movies with Arnie? I remember seeing something about Arnold returning to the role as an aged Conan.

I would have much rather have that than Terminator: Dark Fate.

I would love to see that! I used to read the comics back in the day and have good memories of it.

I'm disappointed but not surprised. It has been in development hell for 20 years or so, Milius has been more or less blacklisted for about as long and Schwarzenegger is box office poison now. I don't think that project has had a real chance for a long time now.

It is impossible they will do a normal version. Either they make him into Cheddar Man or they will make him a neurotic weirdo who needs a team of helpers and benefits from wokeness.

OH! A Netflix version could be good! They'd do a version that showed what it would really have been like during barbarian days; the violence, the pillaging, the head lopping!

This is promising. Netflix has already shown they're not afraid of gore and nudity. I'm thinking The Witcher. This could actually be good.

Did Netflix The Witcher seem that way to you? Similar character and stories. Oh ye of little faith. Well I haven't seen it but that show had its controversies--they changed races, and it isn't like Conan. Conan is a lone wanderer-he doesn't have a girl sorceress as a partner or anything ensemble related. Even the 1982 movie altered Conan by giving him a sorcerer adviser. Yor was closer to Conan in many ways than the 82 movie was.
So there is no way they are going to be faithful to Conan because he was created at a time when
a white guy hero doing stuff on his own was totally normal. They are going to inject buzzkill wokeness.
By Crom, I will wager a tankard of ale that I be proven right!

My point is that even if they do that stuff it can still kick ass. Netflix offers its series a wider latitude for subject matter.

My point is that even if they do that stuff it can still kick ass. Netflix offers its series a wider latitude for subject matter. Kick ass is subjective. They are worried about toxic masculinity (and toxic femininity too--for them a good-looking woman is toxic) and Conan, the popular image people have, is this macho guy with scantily-clad women around..and ironically it was a woman illustrator who popularized that imagery in the 1930s.
If they did a throw-back to that style, it would be a huge hit I bet--they won't do it. I guarantee the women will not be pin-up type. I will add another drink to the bet. I wish I was wrong but I just don' think there's enough freedom with these streaming high budget ventures. They all do it. The Mandalorian would be way cooler as a lone fighter--not with an alien magic kid tagging along. This is a no-brainer in story adventure mechanics.

I loved the original Conan with Arnold, and I loved the sword and sandal type of adventure, if it's done right, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for this series.
