I have never been in a real crisis situation so I am unaware of how I would be in a scenario like that.

None.
If there is no food to buy at the supermarket I'm starving to death.

Everyone can shoot a gun or fish. I don't know. Depending on the context, shooting a fish either seems tricky or unsportsmanlike. But, in a catastrophe, I suppose you have to make concessions.

Yes. Read the second bit. You mean this part: "They necessarily will not be that good at it but they can still do it."? This makes as much sense as saying that everybody can fly. All they have to do is jump over a cliff, and they will fly for a few seconds. I included the making something out of nothing for the creationists. Of course you were.

catastrophe? So society has collapsed. Nibiru has arrived, the zombies have risen, the rapture has taken all the Christians away. What ever it is society has collapsed and now their is no law, no power you are on your own. What skills do you bring to the table that would help you survive? Everyone can shoot a gun or fish. So what can you do that would make you a valuable asset? I have several. I can make something out of nothing. Need a fishing pole? I can come up with a pole and line and all the accoutrements out nearly anything. I have fairly decent organizational skills. I can mesh the little picture with the big picture and tell the difference. I am an okay strategist, good for military operations. I am calm in the pressure of the moment. I would not make a good general but I would make a decent sargent. I watched many TV shows with Bear Grylls and Ray Mears.

Yeah try reading the entire thing. It is not that hard to point something or throw a line in the water. The second part is what you missed. I did, and you just proved my point. It's not even about just throwing a hook in the water, it,s about knowledge of the species you are trying to catch. Like the European perch likes to bite in rapid waters (like near a dam) or that the only good place to put your "eel basket" (don't know the english word) is in a shaded area with slow running water. No I did not prove your point. [eyes] You are over thinking this. While if you are going after a particular type of fish it pays to know a little something. But when the goal is to catch anything, regardless of species, to eat it does not take much more than throwing a line in the water with some bait. You missed the part about people may not be very good at it anyone can do it.

Flying is on the same level as sticking a line in the water or pointing a tube. Pedantic much? Evidently you do not know me very well if you doubt what I posted about creationists.

I have...a particular set of skills. Telling the pigs that it's time to eat isn't much of a skill. Anyone could do it, but hey, no one could do it as expertly as you.

Evidently you do not know me very well if you doubt what I posted about creationists. You are right about the first quoted part. I don't know you very well, which means I had no way of knowing you were posting this particular comment with cre(a)ti(o)nists in mind, since you didn't say so in your OP. This is an open discussion board, which means that anyone can read it. And unless you say otherwise, it is reasonable to assume that you are addressing your posts to anyone who reads them, not just a particular group. And about fishing: Plenty of amateur fishers who know a few things about fishing still manage to not catch anything for hours. So what makes you think that people who don't have a clue about fishing can fish? "Sticking a line in the water" is not fishing. Catching fish is fishing.

Did someone piss in your cheerios or do you just enjoy arguing over the tiniest little provocation?
Yes throwing a line in the water is fishing.
Now what? Do you have anything to say about the subject of the op or did I not get the spacing right on this last line or something equally trivial you care to demonstrate your superiority on?

Did someone piss in your cheerios or do you just enjoy arguing over the tiniest little provocation? I don't eat cheerios, and last I checked, you started this thread, not me. Yes throwing a line in the water is fishing. No it's not. Do you have anything to say about the subject of the op or did I not get the spacing right on this last line or something equally trivial you care to demonstrate your superiority on? I adressed the OP in my first post on this thread, which you conveniently ignored.

Selfishness, my complete disregard for others, not getting attached to anything or anyone and I'm very good at hiding.
