The other case was the one in California where the guy kidnapped an 11 year-old. This one was really crazy since they almost had the guy within days from his car, and he had a sex offender record. Why the F wasn't he being visited at his home to check up on him? Yeah, that was weird. Even stranger is the Staynor case - or rather CASES. First Steven was kidnapped for several years, & then later on, his brother became a serial killer.

How and why do people like that exist? Serious question. There have been many so far. What makes that happen?

And you can see from the other topic thread today, that Toronto police have finally cracked a 36-year-old cold murder case (the perpetrator is dead). He might have been caught a long time ago, except for the fact that for the first decade after this particular murder had happened, TO police & the Judicial system went after the wrong guy (until DNA exonerated him). So, not only did this particular creep snuff out an innocent little girl's life, but, he was only too happy to let another innocent man take the punishment for his own crime!!!!

He apparently was not the only one who was happy to let an innocent man take the punishment. In fact, many/most/if not all prosecuting attorneys are worse than the people they prosecute. Their job, basically, is throwing lives away. No different in the USA than in Canada. Winning at any cost is what matters, not justice.

Yes, but, at least the prosecutors THINK these people are guilty. The actual perps KNOW someone else is paying for their own crimes.

Paul Bernardo was the personification of evil. Very disturbing case. Hopefully that creature will never get paroled and spend the rest of his life rotting in jail.

I thought of this case yesterday! I remember Canada had a news blackout, they even censored US news coming in on the case. That only made people more curious. They burned the videos that the pair made of their victims, but I recall the details. Imagine being in the jury and having to watch them. Wikipedia leaves out things. One victim they dismembered, Bernardo held the head and remarked how light it was. They cut the hair of the other victim to match his haircut--I remember that--and she started rebelling, and had to say sorry to him like 30 times in a row-and he insisted he be called "the King." They made her participate in some scripted thing he wrote--he was making a movie of it. When their last murder victim was in a bathtub, and she started fighting him, he urinated on her then strangled her. When they did a US film of the case, Canadian crew people announced they would not work on it. I am not sure what they proved by that--murders happen in Canada. There's one Canadian serial killer active since the 60s who got arrested and then was up for parole. The fact Homolka got a lighter sentence--typical Canada. Yeah... Laura Prepon and Mischa Collins regret making the 2006 movie. They both had nightmares. Collins goes so far as to tell Fans not to watch the movie or take it to conventions to be signed. They both gave good performances tho.
