I'm not talking about who makes the more impressive James Bond. (SC almost always wins these "best Bond" contests.) I have been watching a lot of Dame Edna lately and Mr. Connery and Mr. Moore both guest star on the show. Sean Connery is just a hot, sexy man, no two ways about it. But Roger Moore is not without sex appeal himself. Looks wise, I'd say the two men are about equal.
But Roger seems a bit more intelligent and definitely has the better sense of humor. In comparison, Connery comes across as reserved and stoic. Relaxed Roger's likable personality earns him the medal for me.

I like Roger Moore. I think he was the best "Bond as superhero" although he could have done him as ruthless based on his heroin-eating revenge in The Wild Geese. Moore did some funny impressions in an audio commentary I listened to--Edward G Robinson and James Mason.
I should say though that onscreen I think Connery has a little more charisma and edginess. I can't see Moore in The Man Who Would Be King unless he was Peachy.

I like both of them as actors. Even though most of Moore's non-Bond movies are rather lame. He could've chosen his roles more wisely. Moore might be more limited in his acting, but he has such a likeable presence and comes over as a really decent person off-screen. He seemed like such a nice British gentleman.
Connery always seemed a bit edgier, like someone who wouldn't suffer fools lightly. But this may just be because it is said that he was a rather shy and private person who didn't feel comfortable in the limelight. I really love his dry sense of humour as Bond. The way he delivers his one-liners always cracks me up.

To be fair, I haven't watched hardly any of Roger Moore's non-James Bond films, but being Simon Templar and James Bond cemented him as the civilized British gentleman type, which may have limited his acting roles. Sean Connery, on the other hand, always had an edge to him and had a better sense of range in which he appeared in a number of historical dramas and contemporary action films.

I think I would feel more relaxed around Roger Moore.
