caught this last night. the movie still isn't bad but it feels dated. it feels academic, not because of the writing, but because of the cinematics, which makes me wonder if a reboot might work, but probably not. i left halfway through because i've seen it so many times. Dark Knight was definitely better.

Yeah. The shots and cinematic storytelling were all good but it didn't have the flow of today's films, so it felt more like reading a textbook than a novel.

I think TESB is closer to a novel and modern movies are closer to graffiti scribbled in a washroom stall.

You lost any credibility you might have had with that statement.

and which of these is more interesting? Graffiti can be unreadable and confusing, or scribbled by a mentally ill person. Wow this is more appropriate to describe movies of today than I realized!

When people use the word dated when it comes to movies/tv shows i stop taking them seriously.

A New Hope (1977) and The Phantom Menace (1999) "flow" better because they are sweeping adventure stories, the rest of the Star Wars saga are meant to finish up the story lines created by the first parts of each trilogy and aren't as "flowing" as the former films.

Theres something old fashioned about the way its shot and edited. I wasn't feeling it this time. I almost wished there was more of Lucas retro cgi put in there.
