Corey Crawford calls it quits. Was hoping he'd play for the Devils.

NHL starting up is exceptional. Ontario headed for tighter lockdown, I might as well binge hockey like crazy.

Habs & Buds was beaut of a game. North Division is gonna get most of my attention this NHL season. What's interesting about that I realized, unlike MLB 2020 'bubble' division play, these NHL divisions won't be contingent on what each other does. All the playoff spots are locked in. The playoff semi-finals could be a lot of fun with teams who hadn't seen one another for nearly a year. Even the scheduling is crazy... Montreal is at Vancouver, for 3 games in a row next week(!)
This will be a nice mental vaccine for the winter/spring.

What'll it be like later in the season when teams are meeting for their 8th time and fighting for a playoff spot?

And then the first 2 rounds of the playoffs are those teams cranking it up to get to a division champion.

That's a 6-3 win for the Orange and Black folks 6 different Fly Guys put the biscuit in the basket A lot of NHL Pundits are picking the Flyers to win it all - they're the 'Sexy' team and seem to be everybody's darlings this year 2 key returns to this years lineup which are huge - Nolan Patrick (goal last night) is back from chronic migraines which have sidelined him for most of his career and is fully healthy, and Oskar Lindblom (1 goal) is back and healthy from his cancer treatment We just may run away with the division FLY OR DIE!

I heard a great point about the Crosby-Malkin Pens... has any great NHL team before them ever had to plant their foot on the gas so hard all the time just to sustain the greatness? Since 2014, 2 first round losses, 2 second round losses, & last year's play-in loss to Montreal. All or nothing with those guys & it's bizarre.

Very happy to be able to watch the Bruins Opening Night game, thanks to a day off and the free preview on DirecTV. A few new faces on the Bruins, but other than Chara and Krug, the core is still there. And they looked pretty good in the first period, leading 1-0 at the Devils.
Now normally the NHL doesn't get things right, but count me in as one who loves this new division setup. Geographically, it's perfect, fantastic to have all the Canadian teams together. It is very strange to not have the Bruins and Montreal in the same division, but really this East division is a perfect setup.
Hopefully we got a fun season ahead of us, good luck to all of your teams, boys.
HOCKEY BABY!!!!!
