Reply to questions asked earlier by π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ :
are remakes verboten ? " Unless specifically allowed in the topic title or instructions using REMAKES, SEQUELS, PREQUELS, or other FILMS IN A SERIES (i.e. 007 films, Friday the 13th series, etc) should be avoided as they are considered to be repetitive answers. "
(and especially so if dates are not specified with the posting of the title )
also β¦ tv-movies are traditionally marked as such in a "movie" thread IF they are used Example : ONCE Upon a Mattress was never a theatrically released movie
Words are usually OBVIOUS in the initial( and following posts) and using a word with the same letters is often seen as being frivolous H AUNTing is NOT an aunt, uncle, cousin movie ! I agree on remakes, but words within words have to be specifically ruled out, at least in the thread I frequent the most. I tend to avoid TV Movies, but I see them here as (TVM). I'll do that from now on.
Speaking of frivolity, I was looking for a Spanish movie with ONCE (Eleven), but never got that far! If we can't be frivolous from time to time, Bakers Dozen is no fun!

"but words within words have to be specifically ruled out" since when ? where ? π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ
This is the only reference to restrictions in the OUTDATED "how to play" "If a topic originator creates restrictions or instructions, they should also be CUT/PASTE along with the list of answers. "
BTW β¦ It is really a pain to have to think of how many ways someone can mis-interpret the simplest of topic titles and pretty fun draining to the topic posters to have to imagine how someone will deliberately attempt to bypass their efforts.

IF people don't understand how to play a game and want to clarify confusions they might have ~ this is a great place for asking .
However β¦. If people want to drop in infrequently and make trouble rather than simply playing the games β¦. Well, general advise is β¦. just don't ! Advise? I see the peace has become unsettling to you. Fine. I am back in action.

It's like the bully who does nothing but throw spitballs at the kid in front of him for the entire day. At the end of the day, the kid finally gets pissed off and punches the bully, breaking his nose. The kid then gets expelled because punching someone and breaking their nose is against the rules whereas throwing spitballs is not. Might you explain your point in context of the thread? .

A question has recently been asked and answered by π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ : Q: Isn't there an option to end super long ** topics? A: If we don't particularly care for the topic, our only option is to pass. ** a three tier Dozen (39) is being considered a "super-long" topic. Passing is the most obvious option for all threads that are not of interest to a particular player. (imo)
There was also a question raised by π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ about "13 More" topics not being mentioned in the "Rules" There were many more active players on the now defunct IMDb board than there are here and thus more ideas for new topics within a thread. 13+ (and occasionally) longer seems to be working pretty well for most players.

OTOH, no set limit on topic lengths invites spoofing, like the 134-entry topic on Bakers Dozen: Song Titles - part 2 where NJtoTX continued my spoof of 99 Bottles of BEER. At least two of us seem to believe there needs to be some kind of limit. My solution is simple, 13+ does not have to mean multiples of 13, but any number beyond 13 that can be terminated by any poster with a new topic.

Traditionally, the game being BAKERS DOZEN, sets of 13 are the norm.
IF a topic stalls for more than 24 hours mid set of 13 then anyone, who really feels the need to, can start a new topic. BUT don't be surprised if it gets revived later if there is an interest in continuing and more replies available.
Being bored with a topic is not normally a legitimate excuse for derailing an active topic.
Please note that the 134 thread still had 9 legitimate replies to go before it would be completed (as mentioned by NJtoTX.
LONG threads of 48+ often are turned into SUPER SIZED THREADS
13+ (and occasionally) longer seems to be working pretty well for most of the regular and active players.

π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ BATouttaheckI think we should still do sets of 13 beyond the first set unless it stalls for double-digit hours. As one of those who starts many topics and has been here since the beginning, some topics hit me as "oh, crap, that again?" I generally wait for them to pass - but - it's when they get to 14 that I start getting involved because the focus is now a blitzkrieg of 13s. I also think π©βπ·βπ¦βπ°βπͺ should change his avatar because it always freaks me out that Newman's coming at me endlessly.

a blitzkrieg of 13s = great turn of phraseology NJtoTX As a 'nother frequent player (some have said over-indulger) in the games ), I find that there is nothing more fun than when 3 or 4 or more of us are here in real time posting ideas like mad and have to do edits to fit in the simultaneous posts .. and then there's the GMTAs of the SAME title! Real time playing adds a new level to the games that is missed when one posts only occasionally and in only one or two threads at a time. I prefer to stop at 39 as they get too awkward to C&P when bigger than that... or make them a Super Sized Dozen. But what happens, happens. As for moving avatars in general β¦ they make me dizzy and I see them as serving only as HEY LOOK AT ME ! attention grabbers. The choice of some are so perfect for the "personality" of its user β¦ but about that β¦

Music Topic : Songs with TWO FOODS in the TITLE Reply to being challenged about his R&CC entry "Can RUM and COCA COLA be classed as food? THIS is what sparked the whole One Beverage topic.... an attempt specifically to give 'newman' a place to post his rum and coca cola and then he got bored and complained about THAT topic too....
BTW .β¦ Rum in a cake is NOT normally thought of as a "food" ! Rum cake, yes.

You post in so few game threads and yet you have so much negativity to say about how the games are played WHY does it matter to you so much when you hardy play at all ?
Suggestion Just PASS if you don't like what is in a thread. The rest of us do it all the time without comment and interruption to a thread.
BTW .... have never before seen the players here referred to as "bakers" β¦

Not at all. What a nonsense thing to say.
I do not understand the complaining about how the game is played by someone who hardly plays. Your interrupting the games and everyone having to do a work around you is a pita move.
Noted that, as usual, you cherry picked what you chose to reply to.
AND There is a reason that "bakers" didn't catch on .. it's dumb !
