Is common sense really a key aspect of existentialism rather than opposite? To exist, is to act purposefully, appropriately and out of the best intentions. Common sense is the way through this, so as to become aware of the consequence of any action. Whether one cares or not about the consequence, then ties into the the existential contribution of being. I don't really think there can be a true opposite of existentialism, but when i think of philosophical matters I thunk they are not pragmatic things. And common sense is, to me, very much rooted in practicality. So that's how i came up with that answer. There are times when I have berated myself for the lack of common sense utilized and times when I have berated others. The thing is, what might have seemed practical to me over someone else's lack of it, can also be said the same of any of us. Much of it is about coming into understanding and also being mindful of what we are contending with at any moment. Anxiety also plays a big aspect in my dorkiness at times. Yes, common sense leads into practicality of action and sometimes it may just have to be plain instinct that gets one to work around something. I dislike being in situations where I have time pressure placed on me. I'm sure there are many people who may thrive on this and the challenge it presents.
