I used to hunt deer, rabbit, and squirrel. I've also eaten groundhog, moose, and elk. I never cared for squirrel, I think their diet makes them too gamey. The rest are good if prepared well. Moose tasted like rich beef. Supermarket rabbit wasn't that great but maybe it was my cooking. We had rabbit in the army a few times and it was very good. Goat is good but more bones than meat.
I love fish/seafood and have eaten shark, halibut/flounder, cod, rock bass, salmon/trout, bass, bluegill, perch, pike, musky, oysters, fresh and saltwater mussels, squid, and probably a bunch more I'm forgetting.

Back when the World Buffet was still buffeting ... frogs legs and calamari were on the Sunday menu. (sorry kermit and @forceghostackbar)
Have also had escargot (snails) ... not impressed !
Venison, rabbit and pheasant.

The judges said the same 'tasty crunch but legs get caught in teeth.' Lol Glad you tried them We drove across Wyoming. I had determined to try Buffalo. My oldest daughter talked me out of it. I wish I had tried it.

Have also had escargot (snails) ... not impressed ! It's very hard for me (mentally) to eat them, but snails are delicious. Not a fan of caviar though. I don't dislike it but I wouldn't go out of my way to have it.

On a regular basis, none.
That I have eaten at least once in the past:
- Moose. It was in the form of a burger, not a steak, so it was hard to get a feel for what the meat really tasted like.
- Kangaroo. When I was in Australia I really wanted to try it, but I could never find kangaroo meat in any restaurant. Finally I found it in a Chinese restaurant. The meat was in a sauce, so again it was impossible to taste just the meat. - Some sort of ants in Mexico. Supposedly it was a specialty of the region where I was, and only available during that particular time of the year, so I was told I just had to try it. It was OK I guess. - Alligator in Louisiana - Some sort of tiny crabs in Korea. Not pleasant to eat, because even though the shell was not hard you had to eat them whole - they were really small, so it would be impossible to try to get the meat out of the shell. - Shark, in Iceland. They have a specialty there that is basically fermented shark meat. Very strong taste - definitely an acquired one!
When I first went to Taiwan I really, really wanted to try shark fin soup, knowing that it was supposed to be a special and very traditional dish in Chinese cuisine. This was before it became widely known how problematic the hunting of sharks for their fins is - today I don't think I would eat it even if it were offered to me for free. Anyway, I always looked for it in the restaurants where I ate, but most of them didn't offer it, and in the ones that did it was prohibitively expensive, so I never ate it.

Yeah, that was what I was referring to on my earlier post about shark fin soup. Not only it's extremely cruel, but they are killing sharks in huge numbers that threaten the survival of some species in the long term. If I am not mistaken Canada has banned the sale of shark fins.

I love escargot, and calamari. And, they are available in supermarkets. The escargot are canned.
Frog legs were a popular novelty menu item back in the '70's. I think they're OK. I bought and cooked them once, during that time. I haven't seen them in stores for years.

Frog legs when I was a kid,used to shoot 'em with a bow in a pond with thousands.Also recall having them at some restaurant in the late 70's. Ate rabbit once in the early 70s,got it frozen somewhere to see how it tasted before I committed to one of my great life follies,raising them in wire cages for profit after seeing some ad saying 'make $500 a month raising rabbits'.Spent a few hundred to get some wire cages,got some 'New Zealand Whites' somewhere and...... Well,first off 'rabbits breed so easily' turned out to be false,at least for me.Put the buck in with a doe and figured boom,easy...not so.I ended up having to be a participant in rabbit rape,having to hold the doe down while the buck did his business.When the first litter came one had a bent ear.Despite my telling my wife and sister not to treat them as pets it got named 'bent ear'. When the time came to harvest the brood I had a friend who grew up as a hunter come show me how to do it.He grabbed bent ear by the legs,whacked his head on the coop wall and then ripped the head off.In that fleeting moment I quit the rabbit business.He dressed ear and when I brought him into the house to cook wife and sis just cried.I put ear in the freezer and eventually just boiled him down for stock to add to the dog food.Whatever I paid for the equipment and rabbits I soon sold for maybe 10 cents on the dollar. One positive out of the deal was learning that rabbit poop was by far the best natural fertilizer for Marijuana .

nicoroniI too learned "never name the edibles" and try to get ones that look alike so's you cannot tell who is who. When I raised rabbits .. I was ok once they had their fur off. The neighbor who did the dispatching and peeling did NOT do the tear the head off technique but even so, I didn't watch !
