An apple every eight hours will keep three doctors away.

I picked up some Honeycrisp and Organic Gala apples today for $1.49/lb. Fujis and Galas are my usual preference (I like 'em sweet).

I don't see Ambrosia apples mentioned, they are WKD's and my favorite.
I never see just plain Jonathan apples in the stores. I was raised on those little apples, my mother would buy a big bag every week.

Used to buy Pink Lady apples, but they turned out to be the least nutritious.
Now I get a few honeycrisps, which are inevitably large, so I have a half at a time. Got some for 97 cents a pound this week.

Braeburn apple is what I like. Also red delicious. But if a certain variety is on special I'll buy that if I'm shopping for apples.

I was raised on those little apples, my mother would buy a big bag every week. We still have them in the stores this time of year here in Missouri. They were always my favorites. Now I'm more into Galas, but still like a good Jonathan when they are still crisp, not mealy.

Does anyone else do as I do and eat their apples with them upside down with the stalk/stem uppermost? I've always found it more satisfying to bite into the more rounded and pronounced lower part of an apple first and work my way towards the 'top' which in fact is the bottom for me. I find also that gripping the apple this way is easier and makes for a more snug and satisfying snacking experience.

I always peel and slice our apples, our teeth aren't strong enough to bite into an apple and I've also read many times that the skins in apples nowadays are full of toxins.

Which apples are the best for homemade apple pie? I made a French apple with pie filling, but would like to make one from scratch.
