An unusual film. In a village in 16th-century England a ploughman digs up a freakish mostly decomposed body that has some slightly human features but is furry and otherwise like a beast. Then people start dying. It seems there is a coven of witches or Satanists who are trying to resurrect the Devil.
The actors' clothing and speech are supposed to be kind of authentic for the period.
An interesting story, but in some of the scenes, it seemed like some of the extras and cast didn't seem to be fully in the moment of the story. And the final scene kind of ruined the whole thing because the man who was expected to save the day was a judge who was acting like a swashbuckling action hero pulling off feats that an overweight elderly guy way past his prime like him should not have been able to accomplish.
If you like nudity, you will probably like this one.

Great film, one of my favorite British horrors. Beautiful, haunting theme songs too. Much more modern and less theatrical than anything Hammer ever did. However I have to agree that the final scene is quite weak. I have no other major complaints.
