I would like to see a restructuring.
Perhaps lower ticket prices. Maybe 10 dollars for an individual ticket. And as you add people to your party you get a deal.
Like:
2 Adults; 18 Dollars 3 Adults; 25 Dollars 4 Adults; 30 Dollars
2 Adults/ 1 Kid; 24 Dollars 2 Adults / 2 Kids 28 Dollars
Something like that?
Or at least concession prices go down.
Popcorn is like the cheapest snack you can make. A small popcorn should be 1 dollar at the most.

How is it a bad take? The reason movie theaters are in trouble is because of globalism. Making content for all countries instead of the West, and then having trade with China that led to the virus. Giving them taxpayer money will not help. They will pocket it and then probably stop theatrical showings anyway--like Disney stopping Fox films from being shown in revival theaters despite the popularity.
You do realize that the west is included in the globe, right? I also gather you know very little about trade or geo-politics.

I know I shouldn't have to say this but..you do realize in other parts of the globe they speak languages besides English right? And they have different customs--like comedy is different in Asian countries, social norms etc? You do understand the idea "different strokes for different folks" correct? And you understand I hope and pray, that when Dirty Harry was made in 1971, they were not (at all) thinking about whether the Chinese man on the street in Bejiing would understand the "canvasing for the Red Cross' joke?
I shouldn't have to state the obvious but since you started it.

'If you require stars less often, and your profits are sinking, then their income can seem objectionable. Stars with a twenty-million-dollar “quote” now often receive just ten to fifteen million, which is barely worth getting out of bed for. Studios are increasingly bypassing stars altogether, making entertainments—“Transformers,” “Real Steel,” “Cars”—that largely dispense with the traditional sine qua non of the movies, the human face. Such films are intended to surmount the idiosyncrasies of the global bazaar by serving as a kind of cinematic Esperanto. “A person may come across differently in each market,” Stacey Snider, the C.E.O. of DreamWorks Studios, says. “A robot is a robot around the world.”'

I predict a major boom when people are desperate to socialise and start going out again. Marvel's analytics are working overtime in this regard.
Sadly, public transport and pubs will once again be overwhelmed so you can't get a seat and have to queue for an hour to buy a pint of beer while being packed in like a sardine, but what's new in capitalism 101.

"Drive In" theaters are making a comeback around the county...
It doesn't matter if you watch the movie inside a building or in your car... Tickets are Tickets.
I also hear, that "eating in your car" at restaurant parking lots is becoming popular again, too...
Burger King is already working on reducing dining rooms operations from their restaurants...
This isn't gloom and doom for the movie industry... It's just changing the way everyone does business, a re-introducing and re-imagining old school concepts for the pandemic age... and they need to be open minded to it.

A big theater government bailout is just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Ms. Jenkins has been in the bubble too long. Does she even remember what it was like when she was a normal human being?

To be fair, I'd say film-going has been dying off long ago before COVID. Obviously people still go, but right now, superhero films, Star Wars and existing franchises are really the only ones dominating the box office. Any small budget or indie films, even with A-list actors, barely make their own budget back. Superhero films and Star Wars films are just easy to follow and the epitome of escapism. I always maintain that at least this generation of movie goers just don't like smart and clever films that make you think. You do pretentious really well. Not at all. Prove me wrong. Name some original films in the last five years or so that actually did good money. I get that smaller budget films aren't required to obviously make a billion, but still, name one that made it's budget back and then some.

I'd be sad to see the death of movie theatres. Its impact on me would be minimal, however, since I watch the vast majority of my movies at home and can't see myself returning to the cinema for a long time to come. I think all of the upcoming releases should be released online at this stage. No point in delaying everything until the virus flattens out. That could well be 2022 or later.
As for whether movie theatres survive this - I think the combination of the virus plus the massive popularity of streaming is definitely proving to be an existential threat for these kinds of venues. I do hope they pull through in the end. My own local cinema - the only one I've attended since 2004 - closed recently. It was the biggest cinema in my country and I was rather fond of it. Sad times.

Actually, A24 in general has made a number of small budgeted movies that have done fine at the box office. Also, they’re not exactly small budget movies, but movies like The Revenant and Dunkirk aren’t based on any pre-existing IP’s, nor do they qualify as fun escapism, but they did pretty well. Edit: I completely to forgot to mention movie like Get Out and Us.

Who knows. Once there is a vaccine more people will go to the cinemas. However, I think Covid-19 is just the start of many more, equally or worse pandemics headed our way due to global warming. I hope you're wrong but fear you're right.
