Does anyone recall Long John Silver, Orange Julius, Jack In The Box, Ponderosa and Sizzler? I was saddened to hear Old Country Buffet closed down a few years ago. The last time I dined there was in 2008.

Hi, Hilda
Welcome to the message boards. I hope that you find it to be a fun place for discussion.
I live on the west coast, and pretty much echo Ass_E9's post.
Orange Julius was very popular in malls, for a time. But, even malls are losing their participating franchises. I haven't seen an OJ for a long time.
I've never seen a Long John Silver, but the used to do TV commercials, here, so they must have been around.
Jack-in-the-Box is still around, but it's been a long time since I've seen a Sizzler.

All three of us who replied are in California. Where are you? (if you don't want to say specifically, a region is good enough)

I grew up in Chicago. I read about the Jack In Boxes in CA. Glad to know they are still around. How about Tastee Freeze ice cream shops? I am a 70's child.

I remember an Orange Julius, next to Hot Sam's pretzels in Mayfair Mall when I was growing up(70's). There was a Long John Silver's down the road, but it changed over to a Taco Bell early 80's & is still there. There's still a Ponderosa in Hartford(WI). And loved Sizzlers cheese toast. But it went bye bye after the E Coli outbreak here.

Hi Hilda: I'm originally from the Chicago area and I remember all those places, we left the area in 2001, moved to Las Vegas, NV for a short stint, onward to Albuquerque, NM and ended up in Alabama (I'm a "stranger in a strange land" now). I was born in 1949. NW Indiana also had a lot of those eating places. Of all the places I have lived, Chicago is still #1 on my list for food. Also I haven't had a fresh White Castle since June 2001, the month we left.
