About 8/10. It's not on my favorites list but it has some spookiness like the gorgon reflection in the water scene. The worst thing about it is the gorgon design/fx/

The worst thing about it is the gorgon design/fx/ It seemed like a rushed production. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee took on the opposites of their usual roles, not very convincingly. The gorgon design looked cheap–and especially so in the final scene. Whoever designed that crap should have been shot. As should the director and editor, for allowing the camera to linger on it as longer as they did. Really bad makeup too. And why is it that you would only turn to stone if you looked at the gorgon head-on? No problem if you looked directly at her back, you just couldn't look at her face.

The makeup was bad--this was one of Hammer's weaknesses although given the time and budget I can't critique it too much. Sometimes these things don't get noticed until it is already filmed like the distracting movements of the snakes.
Occasionally they were innovative with it like the zombies in Plague of the Zombies.
The distracting thing I found was they called her a Gorgon but
Megaera is an Erinýe, or Fury, not a Gorgon. The Gorgons were named Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. The film states that there are two deceased Gorgons, Medusa and Tisiphone. The Erinýes are named Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone, and there are no stories of them being killed. The Erinýes had snakes for hair, which may have resulted in the confusion. They are best known from Agamenon's _The Eumenides_, which means The Kindly Ones, a euphemism for the Erinýes, immortals who avenge intrafamilial murder.
