All right i decided to re write this again since I realized I rambled too much the first time. anyway what do you guys think of the tv portrays geniuses. Check this article below and then put your comments here. this is the link to the article www.cracked.com/article_18960_5-things-tv-writers-apparently-believe-about-smart-people.htmlafter i read the article I thought it made some good points but at the end it's tv and its entertainment so I really don't care much on accuracy and if you see all of these geniuses the same it's because they are all based on Sherlock Holmes to a different degree. So it's natural all share very similar traits and you feel like you are watching the same show all over again with different names of the characters and professions.

Walter White? House? It's Okay To Be A Dick, As Long As You're SmartGotta agree with this one. If you make yourself indespensible you can do just about anything Just ask Jerry Sandusky www.cbsnews.com/news/jerry-sandusky-trial-mike-mcqueary-testifies-that-he-saw-sandusky-and-boy-in-shower-at-psu/named Assistant coach of the year twice. porked little boys in the shower- Got away with it for years because he was good at his job Michael Jackson got away with being a pedophile for years. Why? because he wrote Thriller Fans to this day still believe his innocent despite a mountain of evidence and witnesses.

Walter White however had many flaws which made him realistic, whereas others often feel like guys we are meant to root for regardless of flaws as well.

These kinds of arguments come up from time to time regarding any genre or character type.
The point of many of these shows is to highlight just how unique the main characters (Or their sidekicks) are.
It's not entirely fair to even look at a clump of shows for the pattern since the shows are not supposed to be reenactments of reality, but rather exceptions to reality. Each show is distinctly separate from the other ones and the plots are designed to specifically fix that show's problem of the week/season.
I love Suits, but the show is almost entirely populated by geniuses, whether it's the criminal, the lawyers, or opposing counsel. The only ones that seem sorta clueless are the occasional judge (The show tries to settle things before it gets to a judge which is pretty realistic) Everyone figures stuff out amazingly fast which almost minimizes the main character's extra ability of having a photographic memory.
It's not these superhuman abilities that make me love the show, but rather what they do with it to make the show satisfying to me.

The ones to blame with it are film producers. They make their lives so much more fun and glamouros. the main examples are James Bond and Mission Impossible. Though there is this new trend on making Spies more realistic since Jason Bourne. I also agree on how tv and film don't have be realistic all the time. After all film and series are there to give us some fantasy and escapism. Even films or shows based on real life have some stuff made up, to make thefilm much more exciting or keep the viewer engaged example The Tudors. to save time or not confuse the viewers with too many Marys they mixed both sisters of Henry VIII into 1 and its fine because at the it's a tv series not a documentary.

Probably House would get his way in real life. great doctors are really indispensable, if i needed i would ask for House as my doctor.

I think House was realistic enough- for one thing, he wasn't a pretty young boy at his 20's when we first meet him, but was at his 40's, with two decades of experience. He was also a miserable, addicted, lonely and misanthropic guy that basically failed at every relationship he ever had, except with Wilson. Cuddy also mentions she got him relatively cheap because no one else would put up with him.
Walter White was also a loser nearly all his life- even his success has to be seen in the context that, in the show timeline, lasted only two years.
That said, of course many shows portray geniuses as omniscient and unrealistically smart (comic books are even worse).

Walter Whites portrayal of a genius is probably the best I've ever seen. They didn't overdo it with him by making him amazing at everything. He was outstanding in his field, but had very little street smarts and had many flaws and made bad decision after bad decision.
