Overall I liked it but the finale should have been toned down a little so it wasn't so "cartoonish". I don't mind the rewrite of history or the violent end, and I understand the arguments for it being so excessive, but I think it would have worked better if it wasn't so OTT.

I remember the movie took some heat for a scene where a woman gets her head bashed in repeatedly.

Some women have felt the movie is sexist and misogynistic against women with violence against women being played for laughs.

So violence against men for laughs is ok? It's not that. It's that the female characters get a much more brutal treatment than the male characters.

He beats the guy to a pulp who popped his tire at the ranch. Then he sets Brandy onto Texs nuts. He destroys Bruce Lee. But the one time in the movie where someone actually hurts him, a knife into the leg, he loses his shit and goes into beserker mode. Just happens to be a female. No big deal

And 1 male. Since they're in the same scene when they get killed, the contrast is highlighted even more.

Tarantino has made a career of using violence for laughs. Anyone remember Marvin? I guess these same people have probably had it in for him his entire career but still...it was nothin new.

True. Marvin was innocent. Well, yeah, but I meant that it was an accident, and that he died instantly without suffering.

It was meant to mirror the brutality of the actual crimes. Im not saying people should enjoy it...its definitely not for everyone...but these particular characters don't seem like the best ones to use against the notion of sexism.

There's a difference between a quick, accidental shot to the face and deliberately and repeatedly bashing someone's head in.

Great film. I revisited several times since I saw it theatrically. Probably my 2nd favorite QT film behind Inglorious Basterds. The Spahn ranch scene in particular is masterfully done. The pacing and the building intensity is great. I actually liked the scenes of the otherwise "pointless" driving sequences. The Polanski/Tate sequence in the MG convertible is a tribute to Model Shop with a similar MG driving around Los Angeles. In fact, I think QT was thinking a lot about that particular film as it shows a lot of LA during the same period.
