Wow. Do you think he's the only one? And if so, did he direct all three actors in the theatre, the cinema, or both?

Brando in both -- STREETCAR / the other two in films only
Dean only had 3 filmmakers directing him in major roles -- Kazan / Nicholas Ray / George Stevens
Joseph Mankiewicz did direct both Brando and Clift in one film each -- JULIUS CAESAR & SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER

Hey, matt, as hard as it is to believe, Kazan also directed Montgomery Clift on Broadway in 1942 in Thornton Wilder's THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. Not something one would necessarily think of for either person. The cast also included Tallulah Bankhead and Fredric March. Clift played their son, Henry.
While Dean did do some work on Broadway, in particular Gide's THE IMMORALIST, Kazan never directed him on stage. But two out of three isn't bad.

I sit corrected, Spider -- and bow to your superior stage wisdom.

I sit corrected, Spider -- and bow to your superior stage wisdom. Oh, it's just my Kazan wisdom, you know that. I'm sure in almost every other case you would beat me.

Genuinely curious. But the questions have been answered by others. I was trying to ascertain which directors had directed all three of these actors often lumped together in conversations about "method". I mentioned cinema and theatre, I don't know if they had many television credits, though I have seen some of James Dean's work for television.

I can't locate the image.
But I recall seeing a picture from the set of THE YOUNG LIONS showing performers Brando, Clift, and Dean Martin. And Marlon is obviously giving Monty -- the finger.
