Here is my recap and analysis of Week 6’s games
49ers defeat Rams 24-16. Huge win for the Niners, who really needed a win after their terrible loss last week, Garoppolo played well, their offense is healthy now, and they have talent on both sides of the ball, they can get back in the NFC playoff race IMO. The Rams are somewhat hard to figure out, they are talented and are definitely playoff contenders but I’m not quite sure how good they are or what their identity is, they are better than they were last year but I’m not sure how good they are.
Buccaneers defeat Packers 38-10. Big win for the Bucs, who after a slow start dominated on both sides of the ball, their defense played a great game and completely shut down Rodgers and the Packers offense, and the Bucs offense had a very nice, balanced attack, Brady played well, they got Gronk involved, and they rushed well also. The Bucs have a very strong team and are one of the NFL’s best IMO, the Packers are very strong as well but I wonder if they got somewhat exposed today, their lack of depth at receiver is concerning to me and their defense seems to have some holes.
Steelers defeat Browns 38-7. Steelers totally dominated this one from start to finish, their strong defense completely shut down the Browns offense and made some big plays and their offense played solidly also, the Steelers are off to a great start and have a very solid, complete team. The Browns are interesting, they have talent and are playoff contenders IMO but they’ve gotten destroyed by the Steelers and Ravens and I’m not sure how good their defense is and Mayfield needs to be more consistent.
Titans defeat Texans 42-36. Great game, Titans stay unbeaten behind a great offensive performance, especially from Henry who ran for over 200 yards, Tannehill played well again and the Titans have a strong, complete team, I’m very impressed by them. The Texans are competitive and aren’t a bad team IMO, but they’ve struggled a lot against a very hard schedule and they don’t have quite enough talent to beat the top tier teams, Watson is a good QB an they have talent but it’s unlikely they will get into the playoff race.
Colts defeat Bengals 31-27. Great comeback win for the Colts, Rivers with a strong performance and the Colts win after being down 21. The Colts have a solid team on both sides of the ball IMO and are right in the playoff race, and I’ve been impressed with them for the most part. The Bengals choked, they don’t have a good defense at all but they are rebuilding and I like Burrow a lot and their offense is solid, they will be improved soon.
Bears defeat Panthers 23-16. Another close win for the Bears, their defense carried them to victory once again, they have a strong defense but their offense is just average, and they are right in the playoff race, it will be interesting to see how they do going forward. The Panthers aren’t a bad team and are competitive but I don’t see them as playoff contenders, too many holes and not quite enough talent.
Falcons defeat Vikings 40-23. Falcons looked like a totally different team with a new coach, and they played much better on both sides of the ball, they have talent, unfortunately it’s just too late for them to get back in the playoff race IMO and they won’t finish with a good record. The Vikings are puzzling, they were without Cook today which hurt badly but their defense was weak again and Cousins looked terrible, I have to think that the Cousins era may be coming to an end soon in Minnesota, he’s had a subpar year so far and isn’t getting the job done, and the Vikings have been one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments IMO.
Broncos defeat Patriots 18-12. Broncos with an upset win behind a solid defensive performance, Lock is back and that helps them some and they aren’t a terrible team but they aren’t that good either, and this is a bad home loss for the Pats, Cam struggled and the Pats offense didn’t look good, I don’t think the Pats will make the playoffs as their offense isn’t very good, but they aren’t out of the playoff race.
Ravens defeat Eagles 30-28. Ravens escape with a road win behind a solid performance from Jackson, they are a very good team but they nearly blew this game, the Eagles continue to struggle, they have just enough talent to be competitive but they aren’t a very good team IMO, they are only a playoff contender because of how awful the NFC East is.
Dolphins defeat Jets 24-0. Fins go to 500 and are playing decently right now, Tua saw his first action today which is the most interesting thing about this team as I don’t think they have enough talent to go to the playoffs, although they are at 500. The Jets are horrid, they are the NFL’s worst team IMO and they suck all around.
Lions defeat Jaguars 34-16. Not much to say here as neither team is going anywhere, Patricia keeps his job for another week at least with this win but both teams will finish at the bottom of their divisions IMO, Lions have slightly more talent.
Giants defeat Washington 20-19. Toilet Bowl here, both teams are horrid, Giants have slightly more talent so they won but both teams are terrible, so nothing to say here, other than that both teams need to rebuild.
