They don't even have a title yet but got everything else lined up.
"...The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel will serve as a continuation to the story begun in Tobe Hooper‘s 1974 feature film. Cinematographer David Blue Garcia (Tejano) serves as director, working from a script written by Chris Devlin (Cobweb). Garcia notably replaced The Dig directing duo Andy and Ryan Tohill just one week into production back in August. Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) serves as a producer. The cast of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie includes Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (Star Trek), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), Jolyon Coy (War & Peace), and Moe Dunford (Vikings). Plot details for the new sequel are unclear but I’m sure it’s no stretch to say there will be plenty of gore, screams, and dismemberment at the hands of serial killer and horror icon Leatherface, who is back to haunt us all."

How many direct sequels that ignore the previous films outside of the first one does this franchise need? This is at least the third time they’ve done this.

Another property that is all used up. They can probably milk it for Marxist propaganda though. Looking at the production teams, sounds like that's the idea.

Oh goody. Another movie I'll have to insist on missing.

I'm a fan of some of the films. But jeez. What more can be done with it? I'm surprised it's gotten this far. Part 2, "the next generation", and "Texas Chainsaw 3D", definitely had their issues for me. I liked "Leatherface" despite it's limitations as a prequel.
We've been to the 1960's,1970's, 1980's, 1990's, and two installments in 2012. ("Butcher Boys" is a modern spinoff.) Really what more can be done with it? Leatherface is an old man in "Texas Chainsaw 3D" for God's sake...
Sounds like this takes place in the 1970's again. If anything I'm curious how this will turn out.

We haven't had Leatherface versus Pinhead yet......

That’s usually a good sign although it also isn’t. Test screenings usually evoke different reactions than final releases.

Speaking of Spiral I watched it and was wondering where you would place that with the other movies, knowing you didn’t like it? I thought it was fine, better than 5 and 7 at least.

Also found it better than 7, as well as 4. About on par with 5. I'd call all of the others better movies, even the last reboot which was less inspired but better made. Forgettable traps, predictable killer with senseless motive, and awful-even-by-Saw-standards acting from Rock. Test audience was laughing at it.

I didn’t mind the traps or the twist killer and Rock’s performance wasn’t that bad IMO, but it did feel pretty underwhelming as a “new spin” and I didn’t buy Sam Jackson being the father of Chris Rock at only 16 years apart. Also the ending itself was kind of abrupt.

I'm not expecting much... but I'm a sucker for these movies. Hopefully better than "3D". I actually liked "Leatherface" despite it's issues.
