After TROS there was supposed to be a one year break, then the next new SW movie in 2022. Then recently they pushed the date back to 2023. We’re now 2 years and 2 months away from the 2023 release date. They still have no decision on what it’s going to be about or who’s going to make it. I’ll bet my Mon Calamari battle cruiser it gets pushed back again to 2024.
How does everyone else feel about their anticipation for the next DSW movie?

I can imagine a scenario where a new Star Wars movie is made that I am excited to see.

Movie theaters are dying anyway. It’s difficult for me to get excited for any movies coming out in the near future.

I have no real feelings about the vague concept of 'the next Star Wars movie,' whether I get excited or not will depend on the nature of the project. If it's an interquel or centred on an established character like Solo then won't be particularly enthusiastic. But if they can get an innovative filmmaker like Taika Waititi (who has been linked to the franchise) or just a fresh and original concept then my interest will be piqued.

With the Skywalker era finished, I hope they do a soft reboot in that they go anywhere else. Start making it like an anthology type of series. Create a time period and work there until it's finished. Create another time period and work there. They don't have to stick with the same character groups over and over again.

I honestly don't know where they can go with it, or when it'll come out, but I don't care. I'll see it when it does come out, or after.

There's a reason that KOTOR became one of the most popular Star Wars spin-offs; it did something new and interesting with the mythology. The High Republic stuff sounds like it's taking a similar approach and I'd like to see it applied to the next phase of live action (be it movies or streaming shows) as well. For the most interesting time period to explore would be the future, pick things up 100 years or so after Episode 9. Intentionally or now I think things were left in a rally interesting place going forward. Force Awakens blew up the Republic and Rise of Skywalker blew up the First Order, that's going to create a huge power vacuum. I'd imagine the galaxy would devolve into lawlessness and warring factions very quickly and that's something that I want to see.

If they are going to reference the Skywalker era then make them actual legends instead of living legends. It also gives them time to upgrade Jedi abilities and maybe technology.
As for the lawlessness, I think there needs to be something that shadows over the heroes. Doesn't have to be in their face or the main drive of the story, but having just some group could be taken care of kind of quick. At least one of the main heroes has to be a force user. And with a lightsaber. Just has to be a thing. lol
I can kinda see the next power structure being an actual dark side empire (not the Sith). Not a government ran by a Sith and his underling. Something like a Star Wars Rebels that had inquisitors all over the place. Even "Stormtroopers" are dark siders. Another thing is that they don't have to take down the current government. Just let it loom in the background or be a hindrance. Kinda like Solo.
Hmm, thinking about it, I think I want Assassin's Creed with a Star Wars coat on it.

We'd first meet them was a sinister cult but as the films progress they gain more and more power becoming the dominant religion in the galaxy. While being the still bad guys they'd also be the ones to unite a fractured galaxy. Naturally their ranks would include Force users and mind manipulation being a part of their recruitment and control.

The Jedi and Sith didn't feel like a religion. The only time it came up that they were a religion was when Tarkin called the Jedi one. Now that I think about it, "May the Force be with you" is a prayer. But your idea would put the Force and serving it above all else for these people. Taking over the galaxy would just be a byproduct of... forcing everyone to serve the Force.

I tended to think of the Jedi as being the ones to serve the Force, the bad guys would be more about using of for personal empowerment. I was thinking of a cult leader vibe for the high priest, lures people in with the promise of empowerment and then enslaves them with mind manipulation. Ironically as things progressed the high priest would be the one to unite the fractured galaxy, ending conflicts by making both sides worship him.

While I did vote 'I don't care', that's nearly as much on the fence neutral.
I merely think my SW cinematic life bucket list has been fulfilled, for better or worse... not least of all Rogue One proving that live action SW doesn't have to be a lark farce like the sequel trilogy. George Lucas also had his shot at a full trilogy at his helm, & the prequels have aged somewhat better with time. That would've sucked had he never had the chance... at least now we know.
