I remember thinking this one was pretty good, though I haven't seen it a long time. Incidently I quite enjoy the other Roald Dahl based movies I've seen (Matilda, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach)

I saw it a couple times when I was a kid and just rewatched it a few years ago and still found it fairly enjoyable. Great makeup effects and Anjelica Huston is awesome.

Just rewatched it not too long ago. I remember because one day I was telling my sister to watch it because she somehow never had...and like literally the next day it shows up on Netflix.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to "reboot" it or whatever yet.

Enjoyed it! Both children and adults could watch. Angelica Huston was cool! All I can think of is the mouse.

I enjoyed it. Anjelica Huston made a good evil witch. Nice to see Mai Zetterling too, in one of her few later day roles, she made a lot of British movies in the 1950's and early 1960's. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/fa/c1/f8/fac1f862f5df217c190bcbbf21d68680.jpg)

I remember that our school teacher used to read the book for us when I was a child, and there were several parts I thought was very creepy and scary, which was a pleasant surprise, when I finally saw the film a few years later on, and it had managed to keep up with my expectations. Not seen the film in a while, but one of those I might just re-watch on Halloween night.
