Hard freeze last night, and the water was only good for hockey practice this morning. With lows predicted to be well below freezing for the next week, it seemed the right time to get things powered up for the winter.

I'm not sure how many birds play hockey these days, so that was nice of you.

I hope you also turned on the jacuzzi feature and put out some fresh towels and soaps.

Catman, if the water is so cold as to be frozen, isn't that an indication that the birds should have flown south by then? And if those birds haven't done so and are still trying to drink frozen water, isn't that an indication that those birds are just plain dumb, and that particular flock should be... "thinned"? In other words, it's nice of you, but you really shouldn't be heating their water. Let nature take its course.

And others just like it here because of the leash laws for both dogs and cats.

But for a bird those are not issues, so these birds really should choose better. My opinion that nature should take its course still stands.
