While Rickey in his prime was epic, Ichiro's HOF glove & arm in the field cannot be denied. Ichiro I think has said for years that if teams wanted him to, he could dial up 20+ HRs a year batting around .280
I'd also bet that putting Ichiro in the 1980's he'd easily reach around 70-80 stolen bases without breaking a sweat.

I think the fact that Ichiro has the single season hitting record in both Major League and Japanese baseball illustrates his skill as a batter. That said Rickey Henderson was the greatest base runner of all time. Offense only? 50/50 pick 'em. Complete player (offense and defense) then Ichiro Suzuki. He was definitely a much better defensive player.

Why? Consider the hitting records set in Japan by Ichiro when he was in his early to mid 20's. Records that still stand. He comes to the USA and breaks George Sisler's 84 year old record for hits in a single season. If he played his entire professional career in MLB like Henderson did you might come to a different conclusion.
