Way cooler than Starsky & Hutch. Even hipper than Hawaii Five-O. More violent than Adam-12. As my father used to say, it's just my opinion. And if you disagree, you're welcome to your own stupid opinion!

Do private investigators count? If so... As private investigators go, Rockford was at the top. The quality was there from the first episode to the last.

ha I watched SWAT
Was there a K-9 dog centered show in the 70s?
I would think that would have been a big one given the dobermann craze.
I read Jack Palance did a cop series Bronk? Created by Carrol O'Connor.

Created by Carrol O'Connor. I don't think I've ever seen Bronk. Got to look it up. The only K-9 show I remember was a comedy about a bumbling police dog. It was either a very short-lived series or an unsold pilot in the 70's or early 80's.

The best theme song, without a doubt.
I might put Kojak ahead of it, though. And although it's a different kind of show, Barney Miller was awesome.

I saw every episode of Kojak and possibly every episode of Barney Miller. They were different, but both shows had that New Yok City flavor. The sad thing about Kojak is that it was doing well enough to warrant a fifth season, but Telly Savalas got bored and walked away, although he did come back later for some Kojak TV movies.

It was a good series that was completely ruined by the 2003 film in much the same way as Starsky & Hutch was ruined by the 2004 film.

Way cooler than Starsky & Hutch. Even hipper than Hawaii Five-O. More violent than Adam-12. I never watched "S.W.A.T". But I did become a big fan of "Hawaii Five-O" when I discovered it in syndication. I used to post on the "Hawaii Five-O" board of that other site regularly. One of my posts was reprinted on the The Hawaii Five-O Home Page: www.fiveohomepage.com/season9/offices.htm

Recently I wanted to see it again. CBS has it (but you have to join) and Vudu has it (but it costs $1.99). I moved on to other things but I'd still like to see it again someday.

I purchased the first nine seasons of "Hawaii Five-O" on DVD as they were released. I didn't buy beyond that because the general consensus is the show "jumped the shark" with Season 10. The Season 10 DVDs were also rushed out with substandard audio and video quality. But I subsequently managed to watch most of Season 10 for free on DailyMotion. You might want to check to see if "Tour de Force, Killer Aboard" is there.

Thanks. I checked DailyMotion earlier and they didn't have it, but that was a few months ago, so I'll keep checking back. You're welcome. Speaking of checking back, one of my favorite movies had long been out of print. I'd been checking Amazon.com on and off for years, only to discover that the movie was finally re-released in July 2020. My DVD shipped today, and is supposed to be delivered on Saturday. Quote thread to follow!

Police Woman started on Police Story--but Earl Holliman was not in it--Bert Convy was the handler. I want to check out more episodes--one with Darren McGavin.

CHiPs I didn't get to watch many, as we didn't have a t.v. but CHiPs I managed to see at friends and loved it. Kid friendly too. Oh, yeah. My family and I watched the hell out of CHips. The episode in which H.R. Pufnstuf appeared was a standout. Pure 70's gold!
