Is there really a preexisting comparison we can make to the upcoming Infinity War outside of the comic version. Its essentially a Space Opera mixed with reality-warping Cosmic Horror. I wonder if they'll go the "horror" route with it, or if it'll have more of a "Guardians" vibe of just, Disney characters cavorting in space. I hope it's high stakes and full of action.

They're not going for it, though, so far.

They're not going for it, though, so far. Yep. This is also kind of Marvel's way of saying, "Alright, to anyone doesn't want to extend their contract, here's your chance to bow out." You just need to influence some young promising Padowans that were immaculately conceived and soon the galaxy will fall before you.

You really think they'll do a mass bloodbath and kill a ton of people off?! I feel like... they won't. I dunno. It's one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" scenarios for me. I mean, I did say that it was with great reluctance that I agreed to it. I mean, Atomica or whatever basically begged me to do it.

I do honestly think it's the swansong for Robert Downey, jr.'s Tony Stark, if no one else. Christ Evans, possibly, too, since they've introduced BOTH of his successors to the Stars 'n' Stripes and Shield, Bucky and Falcon. Like I said, I think it's all going to depend on who wants to bow out.

I feel like they'll find some way (/amount of money) at the eleventh hour to keep him on even as like a Phase One Nick Fury type where he's only making brief cameos, etc. I would be a lot less surprised to see Cap die, mainly for the reasons you mentioned.

RDJ has said he isn't doing anymore Ironman films (though he said he'd make an exception if they got his pal Mel Gibson to direct IM4), but that's about it.

So the door is totally still open for the Fury role. There would be something symmetrical and cool, I think, with having him appear post-credits in the first film of Phase Four

I'm disappointed you passed up the chance. Yeah, I can see that. Stark has the resources to start pulling strings behind the scenes if he's ever able to get cool-headed enough to do it.

It would prolly be better than Iron Man 3! I thought he already was pulling the strings the behind the scenes.

I assume they've already established her as a character on Agents and so on? I always found her to be a sort of "nothing" character unworthy of succeeding Fury, but maybe she'd be more dynamic onscreen.

I haven't had much chance to watch that series. Yeah, she hasn't had the chance to do much yet, but she is there.

Unless something horrible specifically happens to her that causes her to turn into a megabitch like she is in the comics during Infinity War, she's set to develop into a completely different character if/when she steps into the spotlight.

Meh. They should -- pardon the pun -- "phase" her out and go with our Tony Stark idea. I still like the idea of him as the sort of Grand Old Man of the MCU after all the dust settles.
