It's not even the scene itself. Its subtitle 'Auschwitz' alone sets the movie up straight - like now it's real. Reality is always scarier than fiction. Always.

It's not even the scene itself. Its subtitle 'Auschwitz' alone sets the movie up straight - like now it's real. Reality is always scarier than fiction. Always. I like this entry on this scene from TvTropes: "The title card for Auschwitz simply reads "Auschwitz" and nothing else. The filmmakers trusted the audience to know exactly why that name should be horrifying. In some screenings, it was not uncommon for the title card to be met with a silent Oh, Crap! rippling through the audience."

Historically uber scary for little kids
Monstro the Whale in Pinocchio .... several generations of children had to be removed from the theater until that part of the movie was over !
Several intense scenes in The Wizard of Oz .... especially the flying monkeys and seeing Auntie Em in the globe

That is the stuff of nightmares! 😨

Gotta be the tunnel ride in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It seems like the one most talked about.

Emil's mutation into Toxic Waste Guy in RoboCop (1987). Still can't watch the scene.

Greatest horror scene ever is from a musical, and it is one of the songs: Yes, that was unsettling. I do like "Cabaret". The Kit Kat Klub looked like an incredible place to hang out. Joel Grey was creepy.

The Auschwitz scenes in Schindler's List were so chilling. Of course, the whole move was frightening. It was an awesome though, making the Auschwitz arrival at night. A dark movie gets even darker.
Either in 2021 or 2022, we are going to Europe and one of the stops is Auschwitz. And, to be honest, the thought scares the bejezzus out of me. But we are going.
I think that was the top. I can't imagine how that film was shot so well. The extras committed 100%. The 'Killing Fields' is a close second imo. Horror in a non horror film, that is horrific...

The Winky's diner scene in Mulholland Drive. My soul just about exited my body. This^^^ The scene in the diner is brilliant building of tension and fear and then they show it and it is just as scary as you were hoping it would be.

The street puppet in The Wiz.
They were little puppets and then grew super big. That was a creepy scene.
I agree about the donkeys in Pinocchio.

The "Sloth" victim in Se7en When the dog started talking to David Berkowitz in Summer of Sam (don't know why, but it creeped me out) The sloth victim was a jolt but that dog..I find it hilarious.

Good God! What is that screenshot from? It's horrifying. It's from the movie, Enemy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It's a great Psychological Drama.

I'd say the robot scene from Superman III definitely counts as well. That terrified me beyond belief as a little kid.
