A good one. My favorite for pure cheese factor and an excellent full body explosion:

I prefer psychological horror/thrillers. "The Hunger" with Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie comes to mind.

Probably Johnny Depp's in Nightmare on Elm Street. Probably the goriest thing I'd seen up to that point.
I also love the kid getting folded by a glass pane in Final Destination 2.

Really having trouble deciding. So Im going with... Another one that plays out similarly that I always thought was totally wild that people don't bring up much was Dylan Moran's death in Shaun of the Dead. He gets pulled out of the bar by the zombies as his friends try to pull him back and he is torn apart, his guts are pulled out as you see it in full view without cutting away and you see the shock, pain, terror, and then ultimately reflexes, death, and lifelessness in his face as his limbs are also ripped off and left in the hands of those trying to save him. And it's not totally played for laughs. It's a fucking crazy brutal death scene. My assumption is that it's inspired by the one you posted.

Franklin TCM. Guilty pleasure. Sorry Sally, I'm sorry your chair ridden whining whindging brother died. Not. I laughed in theatre when Hopper said 'Poor Franklin' in TCM 2'. Two or three strangers laughed along, ex slapped my arm. FU Franklin, carry me... I don't shut up.

Is it weird I don't really have a favorite horror movie death?
This comes close though.

Is it weird I don't really have a favorite horror movie death? Some people would say weβre the weird ones for having a favorite death scene.

Effective or disturbing or scary death scene would not equate with favorite necessarily. Like I can't stand watching Chrissie get dragged under in Jaws or Angie getting slashed in Dressed to Kill or the two girls getting tortured in LHOTL, even though these scenes are extremely effective. Or the entire death catalog from the first two OMEN movies. But it would seem to be weird to call any of these my favorites.
But the past couple of days I've been listening to horror movies scored by awesome Italian synth Goblin and it's making me want to go back and revisit from 70s/80s gialli.
So, my favorite horror movie deaths are Sara ala barbed wire in "Suspiria" and Jane's arm lopping in "Tenebre". Wild stuff. I am fascinated with Dario Argento's beautiful death set pieces.

I found the abusive ex-boyfriend getting his throat slashed by his invisible ex- girlfriend in the latest Invisible Man flick to be the most satisfying death scene I've ever seen in a modern horror movie.
