I saw it last night and I was surprised. It wasn't necessarily any better or worse than I thought it'd be, just different. The story and the tone was more somber than I thought it would've been. The characters were more fleshed out and I especially loved Rooker as Yondu and Pratt as Starlord. Baby Groot, however, kind of irritated me. When he was just being innocent and cute, he was awesome. When they had him screaming and attacking like a mad toddler, though, it was just cringe-worthy. Russell as Ego was also a welcome surprise, especially the way they used his character more than I thought they would.
The action was good as well and that opening (apparent) oner as the credits flashed was really cool and funny. My only true complaint with the movie is that some of the big, emotional, climactic scenes were ruined by humor. I love humor in almost every case and any movie, but when certain moments became intense I wanted to see that emotion take its course. The jokes ruined a few moments for me.
All in all, I liked it more than the first. To be fair, though, I wasn't exactly high on the first one to begin with, but Vol. 2 is good fun. I would be very surprised if there was a movie this summer that beats this one for pure joy and entertainment. Overall, I recommend it. I'd probably give it a 7.7-8/10.

I enjoyed it more than the first. It was bigger, funnier, more emotional and more action packed. I liked the direction Gunn took for marketing as well, given how he was building Ayesha up to be the main villain, but it really ended up turning out to be Ego.

The villain was one of the better ones in recent Marvel movies as well.

Flawed is a kind word. It was rated only 5.5/10, which is pretty awful.

Honestly GotG is the only MCU series (not counting the tv shows) that I just don't like. Thus this will be one of the few that I don't watch in the theater (or ever maybe).
"But, Ackbar," replies everyone. "Every person on Earth loves the first one! Have you been hitting the trap juice?!"
What can I say? I recognize I'm in the minority, but I honestly just don't enjoy GotG on any level. (And a little trap juice is good for what ails ya!)

Like I said, I wasn't real hip on the first one. This one feels a lot more fleshed out though.

I actually never found the humor during the heavier scenes to be an interruption, but to each their own. I'm also not as wild about Baby Groot as many people are, but he never reached the point of being irritating to me. I just miss old Groot from the first movie.

But my fundamental problems with the first one are probably too deep to be corrected by any sequel.

I enjoyed the first. Rocket wasn't as fun. I was glad about the villain. I've hated that one for awhile

It's not that I don't like Baby Groot. I just really liked the original from the first movie and I miss him. Ya fully-grown Groot grew on me way faster. It looks like we might get him back to that same way again soon, though.

Im really happy that the movie wasnt all like 'Baby Groot and some other idiots'. That would have been the case if WB, Sony or Fox had made the movie. Gunn and Marvel gave us exactly the right amount of Baby Groot.
