1. THUNDERBALL 9/10, includes most of the greatest henchmen deaths in 007 film history, including the two most memorable ones (the board room assassination and the little fish "Quist"). Epic scenery, great wit, beautiful women, action in air, sea, Earth, and even fire at times. Plus, after all these years, the underwater battle scene still reigns supreme as the most thrilling underwater action scene in film History. A directorial triumph.

2. GOLDFINGER 9/10 The iconic Bond film, and I'm partial to it since I lived in Louisville at the time it was made, although I was a little boy. Some of the scenery is still hauntingly familiar, although Louisville does a total face lift about once every five years, so it's hard to pinpoint the scenes. 

3. YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE 9/10, probably next best in henchmen death scenes to Thunder Ball. It resembles "Thunder" also in the exotic and epic scenery, the beautiful and breathtaking cinematography, beautiful women as always, and lots of wit. "Tiger" is a great supporting character. Almost non stop action. It has everything a 007 film should have.

4. DR NO 7/10. Not as high octane as the epic Bond films, but more of a "spy" film, which appeals to the more sophisticated crowd. Bond displays some of his most interesting characteristics in this one, such as when he blends in with the workers in the compound and when he assassinates a bad guy early on.

5. DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER 6/10 has more going for it than aganst it. Wint and Kidd are humorous in a dark comedy way. The best scenes involve either them or Blofeld. The heroine is not only the homeliest Bond heroine ever, but also not very likable. I did feel sorry for her when the little boy thought she was Bond's mother, because it really looked easy to assume that. Overall good action, though.

6. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE 6/10, like Dr. No, more of a spy thriller, although we do get some good scenery and some over the top action, but nowhere near the epic proportions of the classic Bond films that follow. It was in this stage that 007 was geared more for the cold war spy and espionage, competing with other such cold war espionage spy films. For me, it's too slow paced, which is what the modern Bond movies are like, except the modern ones lack the atmosphere that these early ones did.
