They can be terrifying. I once had a panic attack so intense that I thought I was dying.
Having an anxiety disorder is very annoying, particularly because it is hard to tell the difference between something that is actually wrong with your physical heath and just being intense anxiety. I have called an ambulance more than a couple times, only to find out it was just an anxiety attack.
Also have you ever had episodes of Depersonalization/Derealization?
I have had minor episodes and these are even scarier than anxiety attacks. These make you feel like you are disconnected from reality as if life is a dream.

I've only had one panic attack. It was last year. A friend told me what to do if it ever happens again.
Never had depersonalization, but my friend did. She was under very high stress at the time.

Never had that second stuff.
I had one anxiety attack. I was shopping at walmart at Christmas time. I had a basket full of stuff and was at the check stand.
An overwhelming feeling of doom came over me. I grabbed my purse and jacket and left; apologizing to the clerk.
I sat in the car and calmed. I went back and my stuff was there.
Never happened again.
It was weird

I have it down to a near science at this point. Take my anxiety medication and sit in the shower until it goes away.

Either way I understand. What medication do you take for your anxiety? When I was young living at home, I used to have chronic anxiety. Figured out what caused it. Therapy helped. I haven't had anxiety since I was in my early 20's. It's not fun. I know someone who has free-floating anxiety. Just always anxious. That's how this person is wired. I wonder what meds are prescribed for it because I've been told that anti-depressants do nothing for it. Anxiety is tortuous.

TBH mine was just a result of all the people and stress. Yours sounds unexpected/out of the blue. Sorry

Yes, I have an anxiety disorder. They happen sporadically throughout the year. The COVID stuff triggered a couple really bad ones earlier this year.

Luckily that hasn't happened yet. I don't know what would happen, but it would likely just take much longer for it to go away.

Anti-depressants are more for stabilizing mood, but they can help for general anxiety as well. I take those as well. Sometimes it takes a long time to find the right medication and that is a pain in the ass.

I have OCD so anxiety is almost constant. It was bad the last couple of days--a chronic feeling of dread and melancholy and depressing thought focus. I have come close to a panic attack but I doubt it has been as intense as a real one.
I have had situations where I was buying stuff at a store and had to leave--but that was due to OCD ritual obsessions. The cashier changed and it made me panic about rituals...one time I had an awful situation where I was really upset and frustrated and was walking in a store--muttering to myself, and I went outside and sat down and noticed this big guy with tattoos standing near and kind of smiling. later I realized he was someone I had inadvertently passed in the store 2-3 times and he must have thought I was harassing him or his family or at least was curious. I saw him leaving the store and looking back in my direction. This was 5 years ago. Fortunately I haven't had a really bad anxiety incident in 3-4 years.
But the depression-anxiety fits I get since then aren't wonderful either. Like a depression migraine or having some uncomfortable hat on your head and you just cannot remove it until it falls off on its own.

I took alprazolam for a while as a sleep aid because I had sleep medication amnesia with Ambien. I was on .25 mg, and took half a pill! It helped, though.

I don't have OCD rituals as much as intrusive obsessive thoughts. I will obsess and obsess and then obsess about my obsessing. I also have noise sensitivity. Certain noises fill me with a violent rage. It feels like pins and needles in my brain.

I use to take Buspirone and Xanax.

Certain noises fill me with a violent rage. It feels like pins and needles in my brain. I am sensitive to loud noises but I don't get angry about them although maybe it's an age thing--I was more aggressive about things when younger. I don't take medication--went for help a few times but seems like something I just had to deal with myself. There are times I wish I had access to a drug for short term just to dull things until it subsides. Distractions and sleeping helps sometimes. The virus isn't doing it any favors, especially when I go in public.

Yes, and I've been doing a LOT of teeth grinding too. I had it before COVID but it's definitely gotten worse since this whole COVID situation.
