This is a little woo, but I've only had one panic attack in my life. I was flying out of New York, and I suddenly started panicking about hijackings. It was this intense feeling of dread, and it just hit me out of nowhere. I went into the lavatory shaking and hyperventilating, and trying to calm myself down. I wasn't sure what was wrong with me, and I thought I was being completely ridiculous. The panic eventually passed, but after a couple of months, the dread came back again. I just wanted to hide under covers. And then, of course, 9/11 happened. Maybe it was a coincidence, but over the years, I've learned to follow my instincts. Life can be pretty strange sometimes.

I've had both but it's been years ago. Meds didn't seem to help, I learned to deal with it on my own. I'm fine now.

They can be terrifying. I once had a panic attack so intense that I thought I was dying. Having an anxiety disorder is very annoying, particularly because it is hard to tell the difference between something that is actually wrong with your physical heath and just being intense anxiety. I have called an ambulance more than a couple times, only to find out it was just an anxiety attack. Also have you ever had episodes of Depersonalization/Derealization? I have had minor episodes and these are even scarier than anxiety attacks. These make you feel like you are disconnected from reality as if life is a dream. I have free floating anxiety, which means I have anxiety almost all the time and freak out over the smallest things. I take medication and have done so for years and it helps but doesn't get rid of it.
