They never should’ve bothered claiming that the Netflix shows were set in the MCU.

Daredevil was great and the only show I cared about overall. The others were mediocre to bad.

If they’re going to reboot it just seems odd to bring back the same actors. It will piss off old fans when it deviates from the old canon and alienate and confuse new ones when it sticks to it.

I used to love DareDevil back in the early days and never really got into the latter “adult” offerings. Perhaps him becoming part of the MCU will suit me better.

I can sort of see the logic. On one hand, reusing the same actors saves them a lot of time and trouble, especially when these actors are popular in their roles. On the other hand, trying to make sense of the continuity of the Netflix shows in relation to the MCU seems like it would be more trouble than its worth, especially when Kevin Feige had no involvement with any of those shows, so I could see why they’d want a fresh start.

A recast would send a clear message that the previous shows weren’t canon. But I’m betting they’re only planning to use the character in a supporting role in the DisneyFlix shows, and maybe a cameo or two in the movies. In that case keeping the actors makes sense, I suppose.

Look what they did with TIH or the introduction of Spider-Man. These are characters the audience was familiar with, but they were still able to ignore the previous film appearances of the character. And now with the multiverse concept, they can do whatever they want. Maybe the previous material is canon to the characters but not to us. I loved the show, but let's not forget it was incredibly up and down. Season 2 was a complete mess. Give us the cast we want, just tell better stories.

I actually thought the show was pretty mediocre to be honest. It had its moments, but overall, vastly overrated. Season 1 was mostly filler and Season 2 was kind of a disaster. Charlie Cocks was very good, but I still say a recast makes more sense if we are more or less starting fresh.

I thought season 1 and 3 were very good, season 2 Punisher stuff was solid, but everything with the Hand sucked. I thought Cox was perfect for the role, I hope they keep him and D'Onofrio. I'd also like to see Krysten Ritter brought back as Jessica Jones. In the end it all depends on what kind of tone they want for these properties in the MCU. What worked on Netflix may not work with what they're doing here.

I liked Punisher but the DD side was all over the place. Season one had enough great material for maybe four episodes. Cocks and D’Nefario were pretty good. I just thought the stuff with the supporting cast was filler, especially the scenes with the red haired girl. And like most tv shows, it just felt really low budget.

Okay now Cox says he will return to the MCU soon enough. He says this could be the next 10 years of his life? Trilogy confirmed.
