I'd not listened to any of their albums before today. I'm enjoying their album 'War Babies' (1974) where they work with Todd Rundgren (Nazz, Runt, Utopia). Before today, I could only have named a small handful of their hits at best. I believe their most recent album was 'Home For Christmas' (2006) so maybe they've split, but some sources online still classify them as an active unit. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

Have always thought Oates is underrated as a guitarist. Hall & Oates Live I've not listened to your video link yet (thanks, looking forward to it ...), but I might be having a turn here like I had in recent times with Seals & Crofts (I came to them late) whose early work I now find quite amazing.

I love their VH-1 Behind The Music album and I love how they do the first two songs on their Christmas album.
God bless you and them always!!!
Holly
P.S. I still can not get over Daryl being a white person when he sounds like one who is African American.

I like Hall & Oates but I'm mainly familiar with the hits. I haven't delved into their albums.

Would you recommend any music by Hall & Oates? Yes, I would. Their best songs are their hits, so digging into the 'deep cuts' probably won't produce anything worth saving. That said, here's the only one you need: Honorable mentions for One on One, I Can't Go for That, and Family Man. I don't know much about John Oates, but Daryl Hall is actually a highly respected musician. Check out some "Live from Daryl's House" videos on YouTube for some really tasty treats.

I recommend the whole "Big Bam Boom" album. Not a bad song on it.
I played the snot out of my cassette of that album so much, I HAD to get the CD.

I watched Daryl Hall holding concerts round his house this week, during some quieter moments at work. I saw Todd Rundgren there, and Cheap Trick too. Thanks for the recommendation.

Tommy Shaw looks like a lost child. Has he never performed those songs any other way? Here's a good one. I've never been a real big fan of Cee Lo Green (let alone his squeaky voice), but the musicianship in this performance is incredible.

I actually thought the same thing seeing Tommy Shaw there, he looks like me when I was first in a band (deer caught in the headlights).
I never bought a C-Lo record but I always enjoy the grooves he lays down as he's been a regular visitor to England (where I live). That jam was so nice on a Saturday night, thanks (I like when the bass really kicks in).
