My ten favorite movies, part IV: The Final Chapter! 1. Nashville 2. The Fog (1980) 3. Dressed to Kill 4. Polyester - "Purr Francine! Purr, purr, purr Francine!" 5. Viridiana 6. Manhunter 7. Psycho 8. Motel Hell 9. Deep End (1970) 10. Ali: Fear Eats the Soul Nice to see The Fog getting some love; that's probably my favorite Carpenter movie even over the two more popular choices in his library. I just love the atmosphere of that one so much. And Dressed to Kill is DePalma at his Hitchcockian best.

The scene where Stevie Wayne (Adrienne Barbeau) is driving along the coastal highway with the lovely blue ocean and the sky and John Carpenter's hypnotic score is the essence of serenity. In some ways, I like this movie better than "Halloween". The movie also boasts the best b-movie cast ever, imo. It's a true ensemble cast. I love all the characters in this one.
