There are two aspects of a show open; visual and music. It is rare that a show open excels in both. Recency bias being a real thing my pick for best show open of all time is Dark. It's the only show open I had to watch all the way through every time.

I love how Perfect Strangers started. I love when Larry says to Balki, "So we're related by rumor..." God bless you always!!! Holly

I don't think the opening of the original "Hawaii Five-O" has ever been topped.

Honorable Mention to "Babylon 5", a show that introduced the concept of serialized storytelling, and had a different opening for each season as the story advanced. My favorite is the opening for Season 3
Spoiler Warning!

Wow, some outstanding choices above. I'm torn. the GOT intro really is one of the best I've seen but I'll also submit every season of AHS

I change my vote and am ashamed this wasn't my first thought.

The opening of the original The Outer Limits series used to terrify me as a little kid; I used to shut my eyes and hold my hands over my ears whenever an older sibling was watching and the show began. It's only been in recent years that I've rediscovered this show and watched a few episodes, and that opening still gives me the creeps. The closing credits are pretty eerie, too. I guess that's what they were going for; sci-fi that was too intense for young children and the squeamish.

I change my vote and am ashamed this wasn't my first thought. Since you seem to be a big fan of Star Trek: The Original Series, you might enjoy the content on the IMDB v2.1 Movie Quotes board, where we have "trekked" over 300 movies to date.

I wasn't aware of it until I read Susan Kesler's book on the series, but the specific colors added to later season credits were intended to represent the U.S. flag.

Barney Miller's funky jazz theme, which varied a little bit throughout each season. The cast credit time lengthened or shortened several times during its run, and the music was always adjusted accordingly, but always great.
