Anyone else thing this is one hell of a great film? One of the darkest movies, about two undercover drug police in the 1970's who become addicts themselves. Based on a true story. Flat out great performances by Jason Patric, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sam Elliott, Matt Perlich and a creepily great job as the bad guy by Gregg Allman (few words, great moments). It crapped out at the box office but it's still one of my off the beaten track films. Pity Gregg Allman didn't do more movies. And, oh yeah, great soundtrack, with Robin Trowers' Bridge of Sighs bookending the movie and two awesome Eric Clapton tunes.

I should re-watch this. I remember almost nothing about it besides the basic plot.
Coincidentally I just re-watched Narc (2002) today. Both movies about cops in the drug world starring Jason Patric.

It’s very good and goes some dark places. Fine cast all round, but Leigh and Perlich are exceptionally good.

I like the film and the book it's based on. I just ordered the book. Seen the movie 10X at least but haven't got around to the book. I did read an excerpt, the scene where she forst shoots up with Willie Red. Almost word for word with the movie. Intense scene
