Unless I am mistaken the Djinn are in the Zoroastrian religion which predates Islam.
As you may remember, my thoughts on this topic are complicated. I had sleep paralysis once.

Not meaning to undermine your pain, but sleep paralysis is common under high stress.

I was just reading about the Testament of Solomon, looking for some reference to creatures which may be the djinn but did not find anything specific.

I remember, approximately 17 or 18 years ago, buying an Enquirer type tabloid, & there was an advertisement in it for a Genie's lamp charm pendant, which had apparently had a genie in it that would grant you 3 wishes if you were to buy it!!!!  If I recall correctly it was around $17.00 or something like that, American. I remember showing the ad to my Mom so that the 2 of us could get a good laugh out of the ad. It would have been funny enough if it had been one of the tabloid's articles, but, it was an actual ADVERTISEMENT for this particular pendant!!!!
