Then where did the religion come from? But I’d say there’s as much evidence for a historical Mohammad existed as an historical Jesus. That said, it’s more than probable he never said or did any of things attributed to him like going to Jerusalem and riding a magic horse to Heaven...that’s total bullshit.

To be fair quite a few religions were based on people that probably never existed (Hinduism for instance). Though there's actually far more historical evidence for Muhammed than Jesus. Of course that doesn't mean therefore Islam is true or anything.

We are living in the 21st century, but billions continue to depend upon Iron Age magic to ameliorate their medieval fear of Satan.

I don't believe George Washington existed either. The American government has perpetuated this myth for the sake of the national morale. And isn't it fairly obvious that Abraham Lincoln is essentially a Negro folk legend? Kind of like Paul Bunyan.
